We only had one night at the Breakers Boutique Accommodation, but wish we had more. Little did we know before we arrived, but we found it to be a fantastic place, with a super location right on the waterfront, and with Jan being the perfect host. It is definitely a great place to stay if you want to relax and enjoy nature, but also to explore the city of Greymouth and not least Punakaiki which is only about 30 minutes north of Breakers. We are definitely coming back and next time we shall stay for a few days to thoroughly enjoy the place and its surroundings. Thanks Jan for making our stay memorable.

We stayed at Breakers in Feb '24 for 2 nights. We were met by Jan as we arrived - she was so gracious and friendly! We were traveling with our good friends (2 couples total) and we stayed in the garden annex which had 2 adjacent rooms - the Driftwood and the Sunset. Our rooms were spacious, comfortable and impeccably clean. The beautiful and unique furnishings added to the charm. The view of the Tasman sea from our rooms was breathtaking, especially at sunset! The property was also beautiful, with a path down to the beach, leading to a small waterfall. The spectacular photography done by Jan's husband Stephen (Shakey Finger Photography) adorns the walls, highlighting the beauty of New Zealand. The breakfast was top-notch and plentiful. At breakfast, Jan gave gave us tailor-made recommendations for sites we might want to see as we drove north/south along the coast highway, including a printed list! As others have stated, every recommendation for local experiences was "spot on". Her tip on when to visit Pancake Rocks to see the blowholes (that morning, at high tide), was something we wouldn't have thought of. She also mentioned Shades of Jade and Hokitika Glass blowing, which we can also recommend. Jan also had some of the artist's beautiful jade pieces (pounamu) for sale at her B & B. As an aside, we would highly recommend the Underworld Adventures glow worm cave rafting tour - a short drive north from the Breakers. It was probably the best adventure of our time in New Zealand and coupled with a stay at the Breakers Boutique Accommodation it was the perfect way to experience the west coast of New Zealand! Jan is like your favorite aunt who happens to own a B&B with a great ocean view. Stay there! You'll be glad you did.

Oh my goodness Jim I love your parting comment, that did make me giggle being compared to a favourite Aunt. Thanks so much for your very comprehensive review and kind words. It was a pleasure to meet you all and so glad you enjoyed your time - not just with us but also Underworld Adventures and the glow worm cave rafting tour. It is a fabulous experience for sure as well as all the things to see and do to/from there and us. Great you all enjoyed Stephen's photography also. We are blessed to have a professional photographer inhouse and love getting out and exploring the region ourselves and sharing our discoveries and region through Stephen's photos. Wishing you Deb, Bob and Nancy all the best for the year ahead. Warmest regards Jan (and Stephen)

Like other reviewers of Breakers Boutique Accommodation, we stayed just one night. We're glad we did. We were an extended family of six, and we occupied all of the rooms. Each of us thought we had the best view of the beach! Jan was a gracious host throughout. After check-in, we made our way down to the beach, which was quite a drop. It took a bit of scrambling to get there, but you can't replace the view. The surf was pounding hard and the sun was still a little time away from setting. By the time of the spectacular sunset, we had made it back to lodge level. We had opted in advance for the pizza dinner, with a terrific wine pairing. It was the best Sauvignon Blanc I had tasted so far, although it was edged out later by a couple of vineyards in Marlborough. The room my wife and I were assigned was large and comfortable. Sleep came easily that night. The following morning, we enjoyed terrific breakfast options that Jan prepared. Her omelet was outstanding. Over breakfast, she offered highly detailed ideas for things to see and do as we made our way to the Nelson area that day. She even had the list in writing with time intervals between the stops! Definitely a great place to stay.

Wow thanks so much for your very comprehensive review. So glad you enjoyed your time with us. It was lovely to see you all down on the beach and then back up at the house outside enjoying the evening, pizza and wine. Our wine supplier will be stoked to know it was one of your favourites. Glad you found the sightseeing suggestions helpful too. With so much to see and do it is nice sometimes to get some local knowledge and recommendations so I'm glad you found them helpful. Incidentally I love your Tripadvisor "handle" - Tallbuck, that is a fabulous description and nickname for you. Thanks for staying with us, it was a pleasure to meet you all and share our wee slice of paradise with you. Warmest regards to you all. Cheers Jan

We were booked at the Breakers, for one night, by our travel advisor as we were traveling from Kaiteriteri to Greymouth. What an amazing and wonderful surprise! Well before our arrival, Jan, the owner/host, contacted us with travel advice for our route, and suggestions for stops, activities, etc - all very appreciated. The Driftwood Suite has a dramatic view of the Tasman Sea, is beautifully updated and decorated, and the king-bed with crisp cotton sheets was so comfortable! The full morning breakfast was beautifully presented and delicious too. Every suggestion from Jan - from short treks, to dinner at the local pub, to her favorite jade shop in Greymouth (Shades of Jade), were spot on. Stay at the Breakers for a very Kiwi experience.

We had a wonderful stay here. The location and standard of the accommodation is great as are the breakfasts and the optional supper choices. What makes this place extra special is the excellent communication from booking to arrival by Jan and then the very useful suggestions Jan makes as to what to visit and where to walk both while there and on the way to our next destination- we visited places that we would not have discovered.

unfortunately we only stayed one night at Breakers Boutique but we enjoyed it a lot. We felt very welcome and perfectly being taken care of. The breakfast was amazing, the room very spacy, clean and with a very comfortable kingsize bed. We would definitely go back and can 100 % recommend this place.

Wonderful location, practical but cozy comfort. The walk to the beach and rocks - we had fun picking mussels- was the highlight. Breakfast was good and most of all Jan is a fantastic host. I only took a star off due to wifi not working after 10:30pm when I really needed it.

Jeanna thanks for your lovely review. Glad you had a comfortable stay with us and had the opportunity to head down to the beach and out onto the rocks with the nice low tides. Is a great place to explore. Shame we lost a star due to our internet connection - it isn't turned off is just intermittent on occasion - as per the info on our website and also info given on checkin. Is on a satellite and they move and it occasionally kicks us all off. Generally you just have to wait a few minutes and it comes back again but perhaps I didn't make this clear so that you could continue your evening work. Running our own business we know what it is like when can't get the internet when needed so have done our best to get a good connection but we can only do the best with what our provider offers. Glad to read that was the only issue though. Wishing you and your family all the best and hope to see you again sometime. Warmest regards Jan

As soon as we drove onto this property, we knew our brief stay would be a beautiful experience. The location of the property is drop-dead gorgeous and you are welcomed by the rhythmic sound of waves breaking on the beach. We were taken to our lovely room on the 2nd floor of the main house. The room was beautifully furnished and we had our own large, private bathroom. Our balcony door opened onto an expansive timber deck with gob-smacking views of the beach below and the Tasman Sea. The gardens were beautifully maintained and very peaceful, being the perfect place to sit and enjoy the views. Our hosts, Jan and Stephen, couldn’t be more welcoming and accommodating. Jan’s knowledge of the area and of most of NZ’s South Island was impressive and she was very generous in providing suggestions of places to visit and things to do, not to mention her generosity in providing me with the recipe for her delicious jam! Our only regret was that we only had 1 night at Breakers. If you are going to Greymouth, do yourself a favour and book sometime at Jan and Stephen’s beautiful B & B. You won’t regret it!

Sylvia thanks so much for your lovely review and kind heart felt words. The pleasure was ours in meeting you and Kevan and I love that we have now become connected through social media so we can continue our friendship. Only staying one night is the most common "complaint" our guests make but I say one night is better than none and never say never - hopefully one day we'll see you back again. Looking forward to that day so we can share some more laughs and you can relax with our views - over a glass of wine or two as we catch up. Until then warmest regards and hugs to you both. Cheers Jan and Stephen
