Brilliant B+B and excellent hosts. They were very welcoming and knowledgeable about the local history which was really interesting and a nice introduction to the town. We were upgraded to the cottage which had its own art gallery that was viewable from the spa bath! Most inventive. Comfy beds and decent and varied breakfast. Would stay again.

Situated right in the heart of Hokitika this is a great place to stay, and the Hosts Frances and Brian are just a delight, we spent a lot of time chatting and learning all about the house, the town and the local history. The suite w essayed in was excellent and had everything you could hope for in a B&B.... More

This was one of 11 B&B stops over both islands during a 22 night tour this march. To begin with we were a little concerned as the property seemed to be surrounded by commercial buildings and warehouses. However, we were soon made welcome and found our rooms to be clean, well appointed and comfortable. Our hosts were very attentive and... More

After a trying day of transportation from Arthur's Pass involving broken down buses, Tiechelmann's was simply an oasis. We were upgraded to the Garden Cottage which was everything you could need. We enjoyed afternoon tea on our porch enjoying the lovely garden which you would never guess was nestled right into town. The large spa tub was a perfect way... More

We had a great time at this B&B! Felt like a beach house to be honest! The couple was wonderful and the room was spacious and had lovely toiletries. Breakfast was perfect. In such a small town I really enjoyed walking around on the beach and coming back to this hotel felt like coming back home. It was DEF one... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at Teichelmann's for one night only on our way down the South Island West Coast. After a long day of driving, we had a warm welcome from Frances and Brian, who made us a pot of tea and told us about Hokitika and our options for dinner that night (Brian is very knowledgeable about Hokitika's... We Stayed in Teichy's Garden Cottage with garden views, a spa and view of a 'faux' mining scene outside the bathroom window in an enclosed courtyard (Maybe the miners just left for the day?). My partner places the breakfast into his top rating slot with eggs, crisp bacon and an assortment of breakfast delights. Tempting to linger a little longer... More

Had an excellent stay here during the Wildfoods Festival. The accommodation was lovely, complete with very nice toiletries. The food was very nice indeed. The BEST shortbread cookies ever! Lovely breakfast. Good location. Very friendly and attentive hosts. Highly recommend this spot.

We received such a warm welcome from Frances and Brian. This B&B is excellent. The rooms are bright, comfortable, cozy, quiet, roomy. The house is relaxed. The hosts immediately put you at ease. These are people living content lives at peace. I think the town may bring that out in the locals. We arrived after a much delayed journey. We... More

We stayed in the garden cottage and it was delightful- well appointed and comfortable with a huge ensuite bathroom and a lovely glass window onto a ferny alcove with historical artifacts placed in it.
