Ian Fitzwater is a generous, warm, friendly soul who takes great care of his guests and offers the very best service. He knows everyone in town and can recommend all the great restaurants and sights. We followed his advice and were very happy we did. My partner wasn't feeling well from our long plane ride and Ian not only helped... more

Beautiful home, exceptional hospitality, great location with wonderful views -- all at very reasonable prices, especially given the service you receive. I was on the South Island for two weeks, and this by far was my favorite place to stay. Perfect for those who want to get away, but still have the comforts of a beautiful home. Ian goes above... more

Quaint, comfortable accomodations convenient to town. The innkeeper is extrememly helpful with suggestions on local wineries and restaurants and things to do in the area. Very nice breakfast. Just like waking up in your own bed. The service is above and beyond! Highly recommend as you travel through Kaikuro! more

This lodge is nice and comfortable. The Inn Keeper, Lilla, is delightful, very helpful and French, which gives a little different flair to this stay. She was able to tell us several things to do including having the crayfish which were cooked at a roadside stand by the ocean. The room was nice, clean and airy with a great view.... more

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Nikau Lodge. The lodge has a very homely feel which was great for me as I was travelling by myself. I booked a single room but was upgraded to a double room when I arrived. The lodge is superbly decorated with great attention to detail. Internet access is free and so is the... more

we spent 2 fantastic days and nights at Nikau Lodge, our bedroom was very well appointed, breakfast was truly the best we had during our 2 week stay on South Island - but the real reason it was so memorable and why we hope to return was the hospitality we received from Lilla and Sophie. their knowledge of the area... more

Nikau Lodge was a fantastic place to stay on the first leg of our marvelous motorbike trip around the south island for our honeymoon. The views from our windows were awesome, even better than we could imagine.Like so many people we met in New Zealand our hosts went out of their way to make sure we felt very welcome and... more

We travelled from Nelson to Christchurch last September and stayed a night in Kaikoura at Nikau Lodge. We were very fortunate to have the place to ourselves mid week, and were treated royally by our host that day, Sophie, who made us very welcome and recommended several "must-do's" for our short stay. We ate crayfish fritters in white bread on... more
