Spent 2 nights at this hostel which was very basic, and not too clean. Toilets and showers flooded one of the evenings with water all over the floor. Showers were of low standard. If you are a couple ask for the "outside" double, all it consisted of was a bed but it's cosy and separate from the dorms, which have dodgy bunks. The hostel is used by Kiwi Experience so expect some rowdy groups of young travellers. The kitchen area was grubby, and all my criticisms pale in comparison when I recall the sheer amount of flies that resided in that room! They were everywhere!

Despite this, I had an overall good time in Kaikoura and the hostel did not put much of a dampener on it! more
