Lewis Pass is a little isolated but a necessary stop between Nelson and Christchurch. We stayed at the Lewis Pass Motels in March 07 and it was the best thing we could have done. The rate for a couple was only $100 for the night.

The motel unit was clean and tidy and best of all warm. The facilities were simple but the TV and heater worked and the kitchenette was very well stocked with cutlery etc, and the nicest thing of all was a jug of milk! Not the silly little sachet things that have become the norm in most motels. It was very comfortable and perfect for an overnight before heading onto Christchurch.

We were running late by about an hour and by the time we were in signal range to call and say we would be late it was almost 9pm. When we checked in the lovely owner mentioned she could have sold the room 10 times over. As we were so late I would have expected she was a bit concerned about losing a booking but her friendliness was exceptional.
