The view and the ambiance is well set. As you've seen to the last comments, service was not good. I have the same sentiments. This can only reflect the management skills of the owner and how the the employees are treated. I had a chance to talk to one of the workers there and asked them about their work. The... more

What has happened to this once high service standard hotel. The lunchtime food was mediocre. Fish had obviously been frozen; salad Drowned in vinegarette. Carrot cake with minimal frosting and dry costing $8 a piece. Latte cost $6 but was like a milky coffee. Not the standard we were expecting. Sadly our annual visit to the area will now exclude... more

Great location, nicely arranged , lovely cabins. Only hotel on route in track so worth it but... if you stay, bring your own wine as restuarant uis overpriced, understand that you have to pay a lot to go with guide to have a kayaK for 4 hrs and you cant gop on your own, and that you should take deep... more

We invited a number of friends and family to stay at Awaroa Lodge with us to celebrate our wedding following a number of fantastic holidays there previously. Unfortunately the lodge had changed hands in the meantime with dire results. Check-in at the hands of flustered staff was chaotic and unwelcoming despite careful planning on our behalf. The stay began with... more

I stayed at Awaroa Lodge for two nights and three days early May. Being an architect with a broad experience in environmental design, I was deeply impressed by the measures that the owners took to protect and enhance the magnificent bush environment in which they live. All waste is recycled - paper, metal, plastics, glass, etc. and the Lodge buildings... more

Abel Tasman National park is best experienced in the sunshine and even though we came here early winter we were blessed with incredible weather to heighten our enjoyable stay. The owner of the lodge greeted us on arrival and was the consummate host for the length of our stay. We had an executive suite which was warm, large, looked very... more

We only visited the restaurant, however it was a bit of a hike from the Doc track and really not worth it! We stopped in during our three day trap for something hot at the restaurant after seeing a sign on the track celebrating the fact it was just five minutes walk to the restaurant (was more like half an... more

We stayed at Awaroa Lodge for two nights back in February, and we were immediately taken by the beauty of the location. Being city dwellers, the quiet, secluded location on a great beach was perfect! Unfortunately, that where this love story ends. When we checked in, we were told that we had only one night. We asked three times, and... more

This is a beautiful location with some very good points. The beach is wonderful, as are the views. The surrounding National Park is a gem. But since our last visit one year ago new owners have taken over Awaroa Lodge. On arrival, a quick read of the guest feedback book in reception revealed a list of complaints – overpriced, poor... more

The lodge is in a fantastic location which is its main attraction. My main gripe with the place is not the expense, which I expected but the lack of details. There is plenty of reading material in your room about how "eco" the place is but nothing to say that they supply beach towels! I only realised this when I... more
