From the minute we got there, Woodi and John made us feel right at home. My wife and I got there early and had not emailed ahead of time to let her know. She let us right in as there was nobody staying in our room the prior night. She immediately gave us recommendations on where to eat and even... more

Don't be put off by its location on a main road. If we had realised that we would not have booked, but now we are glad we did so. There is easy parking outside the house. The house is well above the road and set back, with little traffic noise at night. Woodi provides delicious breakfasts and enterprising "happy hour"... more

Woodi and Johnny have a beautiful home overlooking the harbour entrance and are extremely welcoming ( we crashed her birthday party and had a wonderful time) The rooms are very well appointed and the attention to detail is great. There is a really good restaurant within walking distance ( have taster menu) although you may not have room after the... more

Sorry this is a bit late Woodi! I don't know where to start because staying with Woodi and Johnny was like staying with close relatives or friends you've known your whole life. When we got there, they had to fight us off to carry our luggage up the stairs (and mine was big!) and then they showed us our home... more

A really beautiful B&B with wonderful rooms and great hosts. It is on the main highway through town - right on it - which we hadn't realized when we had booked, and it was decidedly pricier than any other B&B we stayed in while in NZ, but we did have a wonderful nights stay and were really made to feel... more

We loved our stay at Wakefield Quay! The hospitality was outstanding - happy hour wine and munchies, scrumptious breakfasts, an IPOD and docking station in our room, laptop and internet service, and recommendations for touring. My husband had a minor medical emergency and Woodie helped us get in touch with a doctor. He actually ended up staying overnight at the... more

This was a chance visit - and a most welcome one! Both rooms overlook the sea. Ours had a huge balcony with table, comfy seats and a pair of WWII binoculars with which to view the harbour and sunset! Our room was large, with a crisp-sheet bed (an electric blanket too which wasn't needed!), lots of pillows and cushions with... more

We had a lovely view of the Tasman Sea from the verandah of our cozy and stylish room. It was Friday night and friends and sailors from Johnny's course were dropping in. We were given a glass (or several) of wine, canapes and intoduced to everybody by Woodi who also found time to direct us to the main sights of Nelson... more

Absolutely magnificent. All the other reviews truly are specific and true to the hospitality and excellent quality this B&B has to offer. The owners are absolutely hilarious and extremely friendly. We felt right at home after setting foot in their lovely house. Decor was fabulous and the room was so cozy with an amazing view of the Nelson harbour, with... more

My daughter and I stayed at the Wakefield Quay House toward the end of our whirlwind New Zealand tour. We couldn't have asked for better accommodations. Woodi greeted us with her great personality and immediately made us both feel at home. The decor throughout the house is beautiful and tastefully done- it feels like a 5 star hotel. The view... more
