Top quality boutique accommodation set amongst vines. Neil and Sarah are delightful hosts and, together with the layout of their house, manage to hit the sweet spot of making us feel welcomed but not as if we're intruding on other people's lives. Best wishes for the 2011 vintage! More

Very easy to find relatively new small family winery {Ashridge} just off the main road. Pleasant comfortable room including tea/coffee facilities and air conditioning although no fridge. Laundry facilities available. Hosts Neil & Sarah nicely sociable and helpful not to mention well-organised – the aircon failed as we arrived but it was fixed the next morning. Guest lounge (they have... More

We were touring around North Island with friends who were on a visit from the UK and we chose to stay at Cardoness Lodge for two nights. The rooms were spotless, beds comfortable and breakfasts out of this world. Neil and Sarah were the ultimate in hosts and the breakfasts that Sarah dished up (sorry Neil done the scrambled eggs)... Neil and Sarah were very pleasant hosts, making us feel really at home and we enjoyed our chats at breakfast. A lovely setting and relaxing two days prior to flying home and the end of a fantastic trip in the North Island. Sarah's homemade biscuits were superb as were the breakfasts. More

We stayed at Cardoness near the beginning of a 3 month tour of NZ. Sarah and Neil gave us of their time so readily suggesting things to do having listened to our interests. Breakfasts were lavish, our room and deck just right and very comfortable and their wine has to be tried...they are in a lovely location and we highly... More

Wish we could have stayed more than 3 days. So much to enjoy: learning about a boutique winery, eating Sarah's sumptuous supper platter on the veranda outside our room and tasting the Ash Ridge (their label) chardonney, exploring the vegetable, fruit and flower gardens in their 32 acres, the views of vineyards and hillsides from every room, the quiet nights... From the moment we turned onto the driveway, past the olive trees, looking toward the house, gardens and vineyards, we knew we made an excellent choice. The accommodations, the food, the wine, the gardens (fruits, vegetables, flowers galore) as well as the care, suggestions, knowledge of the area and the personal attention made our visit very special. Our room and... More

This is an excellent place to stay and was one of the highlights of our Oz/NZ trip. Neil and Sarah are brilliant hosts and cannot do enough to make your stay as enjoyable as possible and they are very knowledgable of Napier and the surrounding area. As everyone else has said the breakfast is excellent and sets you up for... More

This place is an absolute delight. In the heart of a working vineyard Neil and Sarah seemed to work 24 hours showing us the vines, their chickens which produce wonderful fresh eggs to accompany the homemade bread at breakfast, keeping us entertained with stories from their time when they lived in Hong Kong and Luxembourg, and introducing us to the...
