Katherine is famous for the beautiful Katherine Gorge in Nitmuluk National Park. You can boat up the gorge with guides. Also the place where some scenes of "Jedda " was filmed.
Katherine has 5-6 Caravan parks. Most with Cabin Accom which is as good if not better than Motel accom.
Our first Park was out of town going North towards Darwin.
Lower Level Caravan Park. $30 per night.
What we have noticed is that costs have gone up enormously since we last travelled this way only a few yrs ago.
Has a bistro area - pool - plenty of shade. Very big park away from urban area.Phone boxes that work. !!
Also has ample area for people not wishing to have power.
Probably not suitable for people who like to be more remote.
Our second stay was at Knotts - Knots ?? Crossing Caravan Park which is on route to the Gorge.
Initially our thoughts were - too suburban, however finished up really enjoying our stay there.
