Chateau Rieutort is an elegant 18th century wine domain, surrounded by a 2,5 ha park and 25 ha of vineyards of Languedoc. It is a family run guest rooms & gites complex - a heaven of relaxation for the mind, body and senses. Rieutort does not have innumerable staff or bedrooms or indeed a 24 hour manned reception but a warm welcome in stunning surroundings will be provided. You will be at your home away from home. You will make new friends. No Michelin chef will cook for you but an excellent home-made four course table d'hotes dinner will be offered to you to share with the owners and other guests at one table. Relax in this palace of splendour, enjoy the naturist and textile pools, book an aromatherapy massage, sip fine wines of the domain with old and new friends, wear your best outfit, the most exciting or most comfortable. Feel like a million $! Discover a suite in the Chateau & socialise with other guests or book one of the the quiet newly remodeled gites to have more privacy and space.

South of France for a wedding and holiday what’s to complain about. Absolutely nothing.

We had a separate suite that had a bedroom and a huge living space that had a sofa bed that was quite comfortable.

The place was very clean and also had a washer and dryer so we had just come from Paris for a few days so it was a blessing.

Just a point to ponder for the owners. Ads a Airbnb there was nothing there for a new arrival like maybe some coffee and tea perhaps a cheap bottle of wine etc. you have been travelling and just some small creature comforts when the guests arrive go a long way.

So we had to drop luggage and go shopping right away.

Just a thought.

I would book this spot, you won’t be disappointed.

Cheers

We spent ages researching which Chateau we should try- and we are so glad we chose this one. Karina and Peter are superb hosts, combining 5 star facilities with a friendly relaxed and warm approach. The Chateau is beautiful, the grounds excellent and we spent 3 lovely days swimming in the beautiful outdoor pool, eating fabulous food and trying lots of great wines. We spent the journey home planning when we could next good in a return trip! Thank you for such a wonderful stay.

We stayed last summer in this spectacular chateau, in the very heart of Southern France. The castle is tucked away in a truly royal estate, with a huge park with green lawns and vineyards. The rooms are charming and reflect the historic surroundings. The lady of the house runs this sophisticated breakfast with with charm and dedication. We felt like being guests at a rich friend´s house. We enjoyed the homemade breakfast at the terrace with view of century-old trees and the winter garden. The B&B has it´s own outdoor swimming pool in the middle of the park.

The chateau is 10 minutes drive away from the charming city of Pezenas, filled with fantastic restaurants and art galleries. The mediaval monastry-cum-village of Sant Guillem is 30 minutes away, while the beaches of the inner-sea of Theau (famous for seafood) and Mediterranean are also only 20-30 minutes away.

And the best part is that the estate makes it´s own wine, red and while, ranging from very acceptable table wines through top-notch reserves. A free tasting with the head-sommelier is part of the deal. We wined up trying them all... And bought most of them.

Overall, a very family-friendly environment, close to all the action, yet with a feel of being far away from civilization. An excellent value for money: your own castle for less than 80 euros per night... Highly recommended!

Response from KarinaTomczyk, Owner at Chateau Rieutort

Thank you very much for your previous visit in Chateau Rieutort. My name is Karina and I am the new owner of the house. My boyfriend and I bought it a few weeks ago. We would like to start the renovation of the château very soon to make it splendid for the season of 2014. We would like to make it a fun but luxurious place with 2 swimming pools, small SPA, suites and gîtes. I hope you will come back to revisit the château. Best, Karina

We had a great time at Château Rieutort. We were 2 families (9 persons), each with young boys ( 3yrs to 11 yes old). We asked for a place which will enable us to be together all the time but with privacy. The communication with Karina was very good and we got a place with 2 master bedroom for the parents and a room with 2 beds next to each couple. We had a shared living room and a kitchen in which we spend a lot of time cooking. On the porch we had a great big jacuzzi in which the boys had a lot of fun. The domain it self looks great and is very quiet. There are 2 pools- one for naturalists which is separate and the "dressed" one in which we spent a lot of time. The winery is great and we had tasting with Peter. We spent a week which passed very quickly. We cooked many meals. The kitchen was super equipped with every thing we needed. Though it was sometimes hot outside, we didn't need the fans as the walls are thick. The location is very good. We traveled a lot , to attractions, to the beach, to sail, to hike... the traffic was low even though high season and we got good recommendations from Peter, I would recommend going to the beach, to the famous cave and to kayak. We only ate our first breakfast at the domain and it was very good. Many supermarkets around, I would recommend the Carrefour which is 6 min away end has everything and good quality and prices. Restaurants- there are many, would reserve in advance. If you'd like to hire a serious boat- should also reserve in advance. We enjoyed our stay very much and highly recommend. We should have drank more wine.

We visited the chateau mid July 2020 with our baby son of 8months old for a one week stay. Chateau Rieutort offers a couple of gites just outside of the chateau area and some more inside the area. They also offer suites inside the main building, which are rooms instead of gites. We stayed in a gite just outside of the chateau area (however it is really just next to the chateau, 1min walk). The chateau is operated by Peter and Katarina who are the owners.

What we particularly likes about our stay:
- Overall hospitality and friendliness of personnel, including the owners who run the place
- Place is very accessible, down to earth, however very charming, both the location (next to vineyards) in south of France as well as the chateau itself (interior design, setting)
- Facilities: there are two swimming pools, a very large garden, areas to relax, very nice place to dine (outside)
- There is opportunity to meet other guests, and this comes very spontaneously, e.g. at the pools or at the common dining table that they organize once a week
- Activities which are possible including wine tasting, hiking, visiting charmful towns, etc. Enough to fill one week.

The only improvement point in our opinion was the price-quality of eating at the chateau. Breakfast and lunch is ok, but dinner is a bit expensive overall.

All in all we highly enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely recommend the chateau as a charming, peaceful place to stay in South of France for people of all age!
