My husband and I booked ourselves at the Viva Wyndham resort in Samana. This was the first year it became available to canadian tourist. The construction at the airport was not completed. My stayed, July 18 - 21, 2007 Most beautiful beach I have ever seen!! A 5-Star beach!! Beautiful grounds, gardens, bars, lobby, dinning areas, lovely!! But the hotel needs major renovations, cleaner towels (really disgusting), mildew in bathrooms. We returned from a week at the Viva Wyndham All Inclusive Resort with my wife and two teenage daughters. Getting there from Puerto Plata Airport was an adventure. We just returned from a two week vacation at the Viva Wyndham Samana. It was a wonderful experience. The beach is definitely the highlight of the resort. I would rate the beach a 5** star. You can walk for over an hour either way on the beach which is completely undeveloped except for a few small hotels and private homes.... more
