Drysdale River station is a road house type of accommodation with basic rooms and limited, basic meals. There is a large covered area with tables and chairs next to a pretty basic communal kitchen which is ideal for enjoying your own meals in the bush setting. However the generator goes off overnight so you can't rely on the fridge that's there.
The scenic flight over the Mitchell Falls from Drysdale River station takes two hours of slow flying with the first 20 minutes just for crossing to the edge of the station's boundary. Mount Hart, Mount Knight And Mount Trafalgar are all spectacular from the air, as is Prince Frederick Sound. However the Mitchell Falls don't have a lot of water in August and you can't get an appreciation of their grandeur in a 7-seater plane. At $325 per person for six people it was an interesting way to see part of the huge Kimberley region from the air and Ben the pilot gave us lots of information about the area and the workings of the station.
