We were driving the Gibb and had a flat. Since we only had one spare we stopped into Ellenbrae Station to see if they could patch our tire. We left the tire with them and stayed overnight at their camping area, Ringers Camp. What a gem. The camping area itself is a bit dry/dusty - but it is more than made up for by the billabong and common area. The billiabong is deep, cool and beautiful and a short walk from the camping area. The common area is the old camp for the Station's "ringers" thus the name. It is built of stone, has a large hot water tank that is easily heated by burning wood, a bar-b-que pit, sinks, showers, toilets and a table.
The station managers, Marcia and Brian, are open and friendly, ready for a cup of tea or glass of lemonade.
What a Find!
