Basic with not a lot of atmosphere. Nice kitchen and rooms and well organised. It has a pool. No bar. Not great for meeting people but brilliant for staying either side of your Whisunday trip. Good value and you can leave your stuff they during your trip. It's in a good location near the sea front which has some good... more

Having stayed at other YHAs in Australia we were expecting a certain standard, but how this is still in the YHA family I do not know, it was terrible. We had a twin with a shared bathroom. It was run down and dirty. The staff were terrible too, when we asked if there was a shuttle bus to the airport... more

This is not the nicest YHA's you'll ever see, but it's still OK and certainly not bad. more

We stayed here for a night before heading off on a 3 night Whitsunday tour on the Ron of Argyll. There is nothing wrong with this hostel. It just wasn't good value for money. Our double room was, but quite small and with v noisy air con, which kept me awake. Would have turned it off but as we were... more

I think his name was Alex and he was so helpful he had the answer to all of our questions on trips, YHA membership, greyhound buses, next YHA etc. Nothing was too much problem. That aside the hostel is well placed in town being just down the road from the rowdy hostels and guaranteeing a much better night's sleep. The... more

This was a perfectly located YHA. The staff were very helpful and the communal space was large and clean. The internet was expensive though and there were only 2 computers so you had to queue for a while. The room was nice but very small and the air con made the room damp. There was abalcony which was a nice... more

My friend and I did not like this hostel at all. We were told via email we had booked a twin ensuite room for A$66 (very good price), and it was twin but not ensuite (the price was still alright though). The toilet was shared between 2 twin rooms. The first time there, they didnt have the room ready for... more

When I first travelled around Australia, many years ago, it never crossed my mind to stay at the YHAs but, this time I have stayed at a number of them and Airlie Beach YHA is one of the better ones. We spent 5 nights here, with a sailing trip in between those nights. The price paid was $25 for a... more

Stayed there for three days. When we went into a private room it was cover in ants on the bed, wall ever where. The sfaff sprayed the room to kill the ants and left a smell in the room and to make it worst the ants returned. Staff are rude and unhelpfull more
