Many Australian motel owners bemoan the depressed state of tourism.

Maybe they should look in their own backyards.

This motel was a classic case of the owners neglecting basic guest amenities to save a few measly cents while still charging A$99 for a double.

The bathroom lacked any shampoo; the bedroom lacked a toaster.

The latter can be bought at Big W or Target for A$20, but obviously the owners wanted us to spend more on a cooked breakfast - which we declined to do. more
