Well, I’m trying to be positive about Martin Fields Beach Resort, but I think we simply had a bad experience. The accommodation building itself is nicely presented with gardens to relax in and a large communal kitchen where the host serves dinner if you request it. However, we booked through laterooms.com (6 weeks before we arrived), from England, and it appears the host decided that we were unlikely to arrive and subsequently overbooked the hotel.

The result was that we were given a sparsely furnished attic room (without a room number on the door) without air conditioning. In the middle of the Australian summer. It was hot to say the least.

To be fair, when we complained after a couple of days of sweltering heat and asked if we could have our money back (having paid in advance) and go elsewhere, the hosts rearranged bookings and moved us to another room (with the air con we’d paid for).
