This was horrendous. Our room was filthy. Curtains had holes in and was dirty. They wasn’t even hung properly. The furniture was filthy and covered in cigarette burns. We tried to complain to TUI but we had no response. The reception team were really unhelpful and miserable. Housekeeping were a joke. They came in, never cleaned, never changed our bed sheets while we were there!! One day they screwed our top sheets up and shoved them under our pillows!! We couldn’t believe it. All they did was change the towels. We have stayed in all sorts of hotels ranging from 2, 3, 4 and 5 stars but this was by far the worse!! Staff that are welcoming and friendly make a hotel…. This hotel had staff that obviously hated their jobs and did not want to be there. This was the worse experience we have ever had in a hotel.

Thank you for your review. We apologize for any inconvenience caused. The behavior of our staff is friendly and professional. They are long-service employees and they consider the hotel as their second home. We clean the rooms 5 days per week. We change towels twice per week. Check out it's 12 lunchtime and check in from 14h00. Chambermaids have a very difficult job to complete within 2 hours, daily. We usually get credit for cleanliness overall. We hope that you enjoyed your stay overall and that you returned home with nice memories from the country of Cyprus and the resort of Ayia Napa. We look forward to meeting you once again. Warm regards Anthea Hotel Apartments, Ayia Napa, Cyprus.

The Athena are as you would expect a busy hotel in Aiya Napa to be. The rooms were clean, fresh towels and bed linen. Yes the rooms and public are could have done with a lick of paint etc. but I was not looking for a 5 star hotel, it is what it is and was fine for a great break for us. The staff at Reception maybe could have been a little more helpful when we arrived there at 5.30 am, but they were right we were booked in from 2pm, and there was nothing they could do, something I have taken up with our holiday providers. Great as a base to see the town, close to shops and restaurants.

Was a little disappointed when we first arrived room was given a ground floor room at back of hotel but our friends were given a first floor one up about 10 steps only she was in a wheelchair so we swapped rooms their ground floor one was small but faced out onto small pool at back where our room faced onto alleyway one side and car park next wasn't a problem as we don't spend much time in room anyway., room was not equipped with much utensils for self catering as usual places I've stayed but we made do. Breakfast and evening buffet was basic but worth the price was good value. Staf were very helpful however had to ask for room to be cleaned and fresh towels as was supposed to be changed Sundays and Thursdays but we're missed off on Sunday and Thursday second week so had to go and ask but was quickly rectified. Large pool had plenty of sunbeds and music plated was quite lovely which is what we like but I preferred the back pool as quieter. The bar man Michael at the back pool he made our holiday he is so friendly and was the main reason we would return here hopefully all rooms will be updated in near future but for the price we paid of 1600 for 2people for 2 weeks in sept was worth it. Would be definitely stay again as location was perfect and no noise at night and got a good night's sleep as geds were comfy too

The price may be good for a hotel in the center. However there are some minuses as well. The administration is not helpful at all. Almost every question we raised, remained unsolved. They didn't provide us with a pool-view room. They didn't change our towels properly and didn't clean our room properly. They take deposite for things like plug, hair dryer, etc. They don't even help with printing boarding cards before going to the airport, even though they have a printer. The pool was good, there are 2 pools. The breakfast was quite poor and repeated all the time.

I was a bit skeptical about coming here due to the mixed reviews but I’m really glad we did. We stayed in the superior studio, room was big and the balcony was huge. Room could maybe do with a lick of paint but other than that it was perfect, beds were comfortable, had everything we needed. The rooms are very well soundproofed, the music from the pool could get quite loud sometimes but when in the room you can’t hear it. All of the staff we spoke to were really helpful and polite- we had an issue with the toaster blowing a fuse, told the staff on reception and within 5 minutes maintenance were there with a new toaster and fixed the fuse. We did go for the buffet one evening and it wasn’t for us, not a huge selection and the food wasn’t very hot but that wasn’t a huge problem for as us we just ate elsewhere after that. Location was perfect for us too as it is within walking distance to a lot of restaurants, shops, the beach. One point of improvement could be the cleaners: there was no soap in the soap dispenser when we arrived so we asked the cleaner to refill it the next day, it wasn’t refilled so we just bought some hand soap from the shop across the road, same with the toilet roll. Cleaners seem to just make the beds and change the towels as everything was quite dusty. Other than this we were very happy with our stay and would stay here again.

The hotel's location is great. It's smack in the middle of all the action, with beaches, restaurants, and the strip within arm's reach. There are two pools - one with more going on such as music, which tends to be busier, and another which is much more relaxed. The pools were never overcrowded and there were always sunbeds spare throughout the day. The not-so-great part: the staff. "Who can be the least interested in helping guests" seems to be their motto. The people at the front desk seemed more interested in their computer screens than welcoming guests. There was a cricket in our room which was stuck inside the door frame. We could not sleep because of the noise volume of the bug in our room which staff in the morning weren't interested in. Our TUI rep asked them to change our rooms but they denied. We ended up resolving the issue by spraying bug repellent in the door frame. Housekeeping didn't fare much better. Our rooms weren't exactly spotless when we arrived, and our towels weren't changed all week - we had to request this. The rooms were not cleaned and beds were not made all week, despite the description of the hotel saying housekeeping were present every day other than weekends. Our friends were on the balcony, talking, at around 3am one night. The security guards dragged him down to reception after this incident and threatened to throw us all out because of this. They were in the room next to us and we could not hear them on the balcony. For a hotel that hosts a lot of younger people, they are incredibly strict on the 'quiet' rule, despite our party making minimal noise. Our friends went to lunch and their beach towels were removed from their sunbeds. The hotel said they did not have their towels and we never retrieved them. If you can tolerate mediocre service and are all about location, location, location, this place might still be worth it. The rooms were decently comfy, and it's a decent crash pad if you're planning to be out and about most of the time. For the purpose of a friends holiday, the hotel was fine. The cost reflects the value.

I stayed here recently with a group of friends for a week and can honestly say it was an awful experience. The staff were incredibly rude and unhelpful, showing no regard for the guests' at all. They took our passports upon check-in, without providing any explanation or assurance of their safety leaving them on the side. The room was very dated and dirty with holes in the ceiling and didn't even have a proper bed for us all. The staff also didn't bother to change the used toilet roll bin, sheets, or towels for the first 4 days of our stay and when they did the towels were dirty and stained with only two provided between three people. The cleaning staff were also obnoxiously loud, shouting and banging on our doors when we were obviously trying to sleep in the morning with one even shutting the door in my friends face when she asked for another towel. The meals were also a huge disappointment, with stone cold breakfast and dinner options that left a lot to be desired resulting in us going out to eat on the evenings instead. Imagine our surprise at the end of the stay when we were told we had to wait for the cleaners to check that we had left the room ok before we could PAY to put our bags into storage ( the room that they hadn’t even bothered to clean before we arrived !) We have stayed in other party destinations such as Magaluf and Benidorm this year and can hands down say this was the worst experience we have had. It was also the most expensive holiday we have had this year for one us to essentially sleep in a wooden cot in the living room. Not impressed at all and strongly recommend to avoid.

S2179SLcharlotte, Thank you for your review. We apologize for any inconvenience caused. The behavior of our staff is friendly and professional. The passport process at check-in is a standard operating procedure used for decades now, without even one problem. You have been allocated the room for which you have paid. To start my holiday we was welcomed by a moody old man on reception who didn’t want to help one bit. After going in to hotel room we noticed plasters on the wall covering holes which looked like bugs nests to then find used cotton buds underneath the bed. The cleaners didn’t give us any clean towels or toilet roll all 7 days of the holiday they also never changed the bed sheets. I had to go my self to reception to collect to be told that you have clean towels every 3 days which they never gave us. The hotel security are pervert men who pray on the young women in the hotel. The only good thing about this hotel was the TUI staff who welcomed us and gave us local information apart from that avoid at all costs. They also hate English people with a passion STAY AWAY!
