Zakopane - one of the most stunning cities I've ever visited. Gubalowka is situated high above the township of Zakopane - requires either a tiring walk, or the cable-car (warning, the cable-car is closed from 10/11pm onwards). Once reaching the top, there are numerous cafes/restaurants and other tourist trades, and Gospoda pod Niebem looks to be the only viable accommodation option.

The place is laid out beautifully, and the rooms are furnished in the typical southern Poland style - bare supporting beams, low slanted ceilings and wooden staircases. The staff are ever helpful - despite the lack of English, they happily catered for my picnic dinner on the hill, overlooking the city of Zakopane and the Tatra mountains.

Can't recommend this city, and this accommodation, enough. Well worth a visit. more
