First of all I have to say that travelling with a partner and wishing to share a double bed, then hostels aren't really the way to go. For more or less the same price you can book a very reasonable hotel. In Riverside, I believe that if you share the dorms or go in groups it's supposed to be great fun, but we had a bit of a bad experience.

When we arrived at our room, we had inch thick mattresses with a bit of a dirty looking room. The sheets didn't fit on the bed, so we cover the bed with the duvet and undersheet, and put each pillow into a t-shirt. Unfortunately we couldn't cover the very bottom of the bed, so when i woke up i had bed-bug-bites all over my feet and ankles, and as the week went on, spread up my leg. If you get a room on the main street, then you better have your ear plugs as the traffic is pretty hectic all night long here.

The shared bathroom was pretty poor and messy with just a handheld shower, and a tv in the corner, for whatever... more
