I have spent 4 days with my friends at Ambra, which is situated in a very intimate surroundings in the centre. Nearby there are good restaurants, coffes and bars. The hotel staff was helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean, new-refurnished and well-equipped. As far as I concern I warmly advise, more

I spent two nights in Hotel Ambra and I have to say that it was a very good decision to choose this hotel. The location was just fantastic for us because it was easy to access lots of sights. The staff was friendly. There is nothing special about the breakfast: normal selection, maybe a little bit small breakfast area. more

This is a rather small hotel with few amenities. The breakfast was good and our room was very spacious. We chose this hotel because of its location. Only a few blocks away from Andrassy and one of the subway lines makes transportation easy. Budapest is pretty big, but we walked everywhere within the city. The location of Ambra makes this... more

Upon arrival: Very friendly, helping, relaxed staff. They all speak english. We got the room we requested. The room (standard double): Medium sized room, comfortable big beds (we got a stdtwin, but the beds are next to eachother), desk and something else I used as a makeup desk. It was cosy, but average. The curtains were dark enough to shield... more

I stayed at this hotel in April 2008. We had reserved a triple only to arrive at 12:30a to be told that they could not hold our room past 12 midnight so we would have to stay in a double. We were very tired and just wanted to sleep. They did offer us a mattress which was carried in and... more

The hotel has a cheap feel to it, and I can't figure why they are allowed to market themselves with 4 stars. It looks rubbish and smells terrible. The reception wasn't very welcoming or friendly, but as it turns out, this is to be expected in Budapest. Breakfeast was decent. Location is great though. Just a couple of minutes walk... more

This is an absolutely awful hotel. Avoid like the plague!! Stayed here in May 2008, and believe me the photos on their site do not, in any way reflect reality in any way! Outside of the hotel looks ok, but reception is a joke. It took ages to be seen. Then when we emerged from the lift on our floor... more

Although the hotel street may seem pretty bad at first, totally different experience comes in the morning when you realize you are in the very heart of this big city. It takes only a minute walk to Andrassy street which is wonderful for a stroll. Hotel is renewed and the rooms are nice and clean (but without balcony) and the... more

We spent spent 3 nights at the Hotel Ambra in September 2008. We were thoroughly underwhelmed. The location was close enough to the major sites, but did not have very much close by to recommend it. There were very few restaurants that were very appealing. (Koveles on Dob. utca is a fabulous find, however.) Our room was small, unadorned, beige... more
