Three of us stayed here in late February in two rooms for three nights. My first impression was that the lobby looked dated, but the room was a bit better. My stay at the Mercure started well, a charming receptionist persuaded me to upgrade to a mini-suite which certainly seemed worth the extra money. The location of the hotel is very good, near the main shopping street, not far from the river and close to major cultural sites. Hello! We were bumped to this hotel by a 'sister' hotel, the Mercure Duna. From the moment we arrived, the hotel staff were very, very nice to us. This hotel is located in an older district of Budapest and at first it looks as if you are simply on some side street with nowhere interesting to go. Don't be fooled.... more

In a quiet location, yet right at the heart of Pest, this hotel provides a genuinely friendly and efficient service. Rooms are well equipped, clean, comfortable and warm (it was -10 degrees outside, yet still cosy inside). There is also a jacuzzi and massage service available. Generally, very good value for money. more
