We were more than happy with the hotel as it provided a good base with warm clean rooms and a great hot power shower- all we really require for 30 euros a night! Our biggest (easily rectified) niggle was no kettle in the room, when we asked at reception for a kettle and a hair dryer we got the drier... More

I actually liked the entrance to the hotel - was somewhat cool. Staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly. Rooms are basic but no more or no less than you need anyway - it was clean but maybe starting to feel a little tired. Wifi is awful, but free access to PC in lobby. Breakfast in the restaurant is interesting -... More

We were somewhat discouraged by the entrance to the hotel as it looked more like a hostel than a hotel. Also the way to the rooms (we were at the courtyard side on the 2-nd floor) was interesting. But our room 210 was clean, bathroom nice and clean, nice towels. No smells in our room which seems to be a... More

In communist times it was the prime hotel and restaurant for first class guests; now it is stinky and ridiculous remembrance of those days More

Stayed here with my daughter in January 2012. This hotel represents excellent value, its location right near the Elizabeth bridge could not be bettered, all attractions are within walking distance. The entrance is a bit off-putting but reception area is fine and rooms are large, warm, spacious, very clean and comfortable. i requested a room with river view on checking... More

I almost wept when we entered the lobby area, thought I shouldn't have prepaid. They let me see 5 rooms before I was satisfied. Our room was on the 3rd floor away from the street noise. The room was spotless and comfortable. The breakfast was okay and was like 7euros. More

Easy check in. Not the most welcoming receptionist, but fine. Bargaining reduced the price 10 Euros. The room was fine; clean and spacious. Remarkable dining room (the best aspect of the hotel). More

If you are looking for "honey for the money" hotel, well this is the one for you. Nothing fancy, just a simple hotel in a perfect safe location with a affordable price tag. One thing I must stress out, well actually few, small elevator (two skinny people could barely fit), also there is some serious stairs!!! Front entrance is all... More

My boyfriend booked this hotel as a deal thorough an airline as a birthday present. We stayed here for a few nights so that we could explore the city. Hotel is in a very good location, not far from the river and is very close to the main shopping streets and access to other attractions in the city. Breakfast was... More

The City Hotel Matyas is one of the best things we faced during our 4 day visit to Budapest! Excellent staff speaking good English, wonderful breakfast at one of local must-visit-restaurants, best location, value for money! If you are looking for budget accomodation which can also provide you with the best location in the city - the City Hotel Matyas... More
