To be honest, we weren't sure what to expect before we arrived. It wasn't all that easy to research lodging options in Kosice, because a) many of the hotels are new and haven't been reviewed anywhere and b) there aren't yet many English-language sites devoted to Slovakia hotels (and some of the hotels' own sites aren't in English).
But we were happy with what we experienced at the Pension Horse Inn. First off, the location is terrific: you're just a 10-minute walk from the main train/bus station (we arrived via train from Vienna) and even less than that from the Hvlana, the major avenue that runs through the center of town and is anchored by St. Elizabeth's cathedral. The downtown, by the way, was surprisingly lively and fun: lots of bars and restaurants that stayed open late and were stunningly inexpensive.
