We were on a driving holiday from Hungary to Poland and everywhere in between!! We loved Slovakia and everything about it. There was extremely heavy snow when we were there and perhaps it might have been better to wait for good driving conditions but the snow just added to the beauty of the whole trip. We stumbled across the Hotel Grand late in the evening, no advance booking made we hoped for the best. We were greeted by a very friendly guy at reception. He gave us prices and showed us the standard room, it was clean and basic but we were looking for something special (it was my birthday). For an extra £15 or so (They are open to some haggling!! ) we were offered a top floor suite with large bedroom, separate lounge and large bathroom with double Jacuzzi bath.......there was no comparison between the rooms. We had beautiful views over the streets from our balcony. The room was spotless clean, we had a problem getting hot water through on one occasion and called reception... more
