Our stay in the Aqva Hotel and Spa was toward the end of our trip through Poland and the Baltics. Rakvere was one of the anticipated highlights for me since I was born in this provincial town more than 60 years ago and had not had a chance to visit since immigrating as a child. We had lowered our expectations somewhat for our stay at the Aqva considering our experiences with various accommodations during the previous three weeks in the Baltics. The Aqva was indeed a pleasant surprise. It is a relatively new facility with very clean and modern rooms with a pleasing decor. It is located in a very quiet urban area within easy walking distance to the town square and Rakvere Castle. Although we did not have time to use the spa facilities, I did have a chance to take a look. Everything was there that you could wish to have to relax after a hard day at sightseeing or work.
