Detailed Reviews
The hotel is very well-located in the Old Town area of Tallinn. I knew that the hotel was in old city buildings, and classical rather than modern in style. That said, my 6-day stay was nice in all respects. The hotel's reception staff were friendly and helpful in offering recommendations of where to visit, go for dinner, or drink a beer in the evening. My room a standard room in the side building, not luxurious, but with ample space and everything in good functioning order. Housekeeping kept the room tidy each day. A big plus was the breakfast which included meats, cheeses, breads, vegetables, and more typical breakfast dishes including omeletes, breakfast meats, and bakery. Breakfast was open until 11:00 so you could sleep in a little and still get to enjoy breakfast. Taxi's aren't usually allowed to drive in Old Town streets, but the dropoff/pickup point is no more than one block from the hotel. Overall, it was an enjoyable stay and I will stay at Hestia Barons again. Two small suggestions. It is always nice when hotel rooms have a coffee maker or at least a coffee pot. That would be a nice addition. The room was very comfortable but the mattress was a bit soft for my taste. But, these small suggestions don't detract from my overall positive experience at the hotel.

Would give 3 stars if not their breakfasts which are absolutely outstanding and deserve 5+. The restaurant is very nice and cozy, food and drink are delicious in huge selection and variety and excellent quality, and good service. Even is you show up at the very end, there are still lots of food and no one will hurry you up.
All staff was nice and helpful, location is exellent, but hotel itself wasn't very impressive: not a modern one and without old charm. Rooms are big but not cozy, with old furniture from 90th, single beds, no toiletries except one gel for all purposes.
I love location, however If you travel with more than light carry-on it could be problematic. Taxi will not drive to the hotel door to pick you up, you have to walk with your luggage to the end of the street, cross the square, and all that on paving stones. Also upon arrival you will carry your luggage by yourself across a street if your room in classic side building and I didn't notice a working elevator in the main building.
However if you don't have any luggage, want to be in the heart of the Old Town and don't expect American service and standard such as help with your luggage, king size cozy bed, modern bathroom with shampoo/balsam/lotion, coffee/tea in your room, it would be a perfect place to stay. And again, breakfasts are outstanding and will beat all imperfections

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to write this review. I am glad to hear your comments regarding our breakfast being outstanding, we have worked hard to improve this side in our service, as it is an importand part of hospitality. We also try to improve other aspects, as you mentioned the old furniture, we are currently in the process of changing all beds in the hotel. I hope we will manage to upgrade all hotel beds to new ones by December this year. Thank you again for your feedback and we hope to see you in Hestia Hotel Barons again soon. With best regards, Raido Nurmela General Manager

I booked this hotel through a known hotel website with which I have a gold status. While checking in, the young man seemed lost. I asked if we would benefit from the upgrade, he didn't know what I was talking about. Then he said that there was no availability. Seems fishy to me considering the season but fine.
The room needs renovation. The bed was too soft and as a result very uncomfortable. We did not sleep well during our 4 nights.
The view from our room however was great. Breakfast was fine although it would be nice to have real juice. The coffee was very good. The location is perfect. WiFi was fast and the TV selection was good. They have refillable bottles in the bathroom which is a plus but no recycling bin in the room. A shame.
Here is the unbelievable part. As part of my gold status, we were promised a free drink for 2 once during our stay. Pretty typical. We were expecting to be able to enjoy a drink at their bar. When inquiring, we were told that the drinks in question were the bottle of water (the water from the tap is drinkable and we try to reduce our waste so we had no need for it) and the plastic quarter bottle of wine that were in our room. Seriously ?!
Also, whenever you entered the lobby or the restaurant area, you were never greeted. Stared at yes, greeted no...
A disappointing stay for a hotel that claims 4 stars...

The location of this Hotel is perfect in the Tallinn old town. The staff was friendly, but unfortunately not very much good can be said from the room or breakfast.
The room needs updating badly: the so called double bed was much too soft and not well suitable for a cuople. The toilet seat and shower was not working properly.
Breakfast was not good, although not worse either. The only thing worth mentioning was that there was gluten free bread available per request.

The hotel claims to be a "boutique hotel" but what it really end up being is old, shoddily maintained and badly run.
From the bad sewage smell in the bathroom (possibly caused my the mold which is literally everywhere) to the chipped paint, musty carpets and terrible beds to the lackluster breakfast room, broken-down elevator and airco which will not switch on, everything reeks of neglect.
The noise from the bars and clubs goes on and on until at least 3 AM and is so intrusive sleep becomes a bad dream in itself (even if the rickety mattress would allow sleep to begin with).
Breakfast is really a disgrace with uninterested staff who won't even talk to you and are merely there to take away dirty dishes. Let's not talk about the "scrambled egg" which is really powdered egg cake, the stale old bread which is put out daily to the soft and hard boiled eggs which are stone-cold (probably set out the night before. A true health hazard.
In my room, the toilet seat was broken (rapaired only after two days of complaining), there were no coffee or tea facilities in the room, lighting in the bathroom insufficient to shave and reading lights next to the bed...insufficiently bright to read by. TV had only a few channels, no cable at all.
All floor are wood and creak terribly but the walls are not soundproofed either so if the neighbors next to you or above you decide to have a go at it, you might as well be in bed with them - you hear every groan and squeek!
Checkout at 5:15 AM was a drama, there was a sign on the reception "be right back" and of course nobody came for at least 20 minutes. Gone breakfast to go, gone taxi to the airport or even a simple quick coffee.

Our room was located in the side building above the bar. The bar's music could be heard disturbingly until 4am and a couple hours later the noise of renovations, drilling and hammering started to be heard from behind the wall. We couldn’t sleep at all.
I also had to unplug the TV's power cord twice in order for the TV to work.
If I book a 4-star hotel room to come and spend a relaxing holiday, I am very upset that such a room is even offered to the customer.

Hello, Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear that you had a negative experience in our hotel. Hestia Hotel Barons is situated in the heart of Tallinn Old Town, which is a popular area for not only sightseeing, but also nighlife. Unfortunately your room was on the street side, next to a pub, which understandably disrupted your sleep. Most of our rooms are away from the pub, so we try to allocate more quiet rooms to guests, who have requested a quiet room. When the hotel is fully booked, then we still need to allocate street side rooms as well, but there are also lots of guests, who enjoy the nighlife and are happy to stay near the pubs. Thank you for noting the problem with the TV, we have investigated this matter and this issue is solved. Again, I apologise for the negative experience and hope that you consider staying here again, we will definately do our best to find a more suitable and quiet room for you. With best regards, Raido Nurmela General Manager

We visited from England to enjoy the experience of the old town and Christmas market. The hotel itself is situated perfectly for what we wanted. We were only a few minutes away from all of the local restaurants/bars etc which was very convenient. We loved everything about the hotel, from the friendly reception staff to the lovely little bar where you can order local drinks and just watch the world go by.
Breakfast was lovely. Always a good selection of hot and cold foods and endless hot drinks. Plenty of space to keep socially distant from others which was good. Bedrooms are of an adequate size (stayed in a twin) but the beds were a little soft for my liking.
All in all, we loved the hotel. We would definitely recommend to others that are looking for a comfy warm and welcoming hotel within the old town.

Stay was to meet friends for a reunion. Excellent old hotel near main square. Room was let down by smell of drains as, I suspect it had been unoccupied and the p-trap had dried up. Room was comfortable and smell went away once tap had been run and bathroom ventilated. Breakfast was generous and plenty of choice.

The hotel is located in the center of Tallinn Old Town. Note: taxis are not allowed to drive there/from there. The first room I was given was not nice; there was a strong smell of mold in the bathroom. The second was better but needs renovation. The hotel is not 4 stars. Breakfast: ok, nothing special though. You could hear everything from the next door and corridor as well as from the street.
Nice lobby, a historical building.

The location is great, just 5 mins away from the town hall square, Viru Gate etc. Lots of bars and restaurants around, loads of options, ot can be noisy as night clubs are just
Nect door, this didn‘t bother me. The staff was nice and helpful, able to answer all my questions about transport, locations…
However this is not a 4 star hotel. Rooms across the road, they have two buildings, are dated, paint is chipped, bathrooms are really old…Fire alarm went off twice at very early hours. Thank God no fire as fire exit was blocked with chairs and beds

Hello,
Thank you for this question. We have minibars in each room (in a mini-fridge). In case you would like to keep your own items in that mini-fridge, then we can remove the minibar selection from it. This service does not cost anything extra.

2. Taxi -> usually there are Tallink and Tulika taxis outside the airport which charge approximately 10.00 EUR. There are always price tags on the taxi doors so you could see how much they charge.

3. Hotel transfer -> which works from Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 16:30 and costs 13.00 EUR. It takes you from door to door. For making the reservation we would need your flight number and arrival time. Driver will be holding your name sign.
Hello,
Thank you for your letter. Classical Side Building is not connected to the main building, there is 40m distance between 2 buildings, so it is necessary to walk this distance across the street for reception and breakfast. If you would like to stay in the main building, please book one of the Historical Main Building rooms.
