Just returned from Latvia. Stayed for 4 nights at the Hotel Riga. Caught the green minibus from airport to hotel. 3 lats each. Took 15 minutes. Hotel Riga is right in the centre of Riga Old Town. So glad we booked it. Within walking distance to all the historic buildings and churches. We had an amazing view from Room 424.... more

Hotel Riga falls into the 'interesting' category. Depending on the type of person you are and what you expect from a hotel will influence whether you should go here or not! Firstly, it is absolutely NOT 4*! This is fine as long as you don't expect it to be (we knew it would be rubbish!) and you get a good... more

Where do I begin. "Recently refurbished" features everywhere that you view this hotel. IF 'recently' applies to before the iron curtain fell then yes totally accurate. In the UK any hotle making such a claim could be sued under the trade descriptions act. The wooden floors are dated, not quaint, the bathroom - well as a man I didnt want... more

It was the ugliest and oldest hotel in which I lived.everything is very old inside, the bathroom sanitary and furniture is very old and unclean. Hotel staff was rude attitude, both from the receiver and those in the restaurant. all the time while I stayed in this hotel I think that communism is in the air. more

If you like to remember some Soviet times in Riga, go to Hotel Riga (Aspazijas bulvaris 22). Location is perfect just between old town and opera, but if you must pay 100 euros for room (I didn't), it is far from reality. Hotel is absolutely not four star, although they say so, three is more realistic. Young female staff at... more

We booked this hotel through Travel Republic.co.uk and for a twin room midweek for 3 nights B&B it was £59 total. What a beautiful hotel and the location was excellent within a few minutes of most popular sights. We had no problems with anything and the room was cleaned to a high standard every day. I missed breakfast by 2... more

Probably conceived to fool visiting dignitaries into believing that communism was a success, the hotel lobby is lovely, the stairs are hugely wide and impressive, the dining room a chandelier festooned hall. But then upstairs, you get curiously shaped rooms and possibly the smallest lifts ever installed anywhere in the world. Our room had a decent sized bedroom, a separate... more

After reading several negative reviews on the Hotel Riga, I did not know what to expect. I arrived on Friday late afternoon and was greeted kindly by the reception desk. I was shown to my room on the top floor and was really surprised. The room had been completely renovated, with new bathroom fittings. The water pressure was excellent and... more
