We hosted our EU sales force for three days of training and skiing in the Giant Mountains...and I must admit my first impression of the hotel was that I was entering Stalin's monstrous copy of a Swiss Ski Chalet. The impression was strengthened when I exited the elevator to the fourth floor went DOWN a short flight of stairs (with luggage) then UP another flight of stairs to the floor and corridor that led to my room. Only Soviet/Communist planners could come up with a scheme that had one going up an elevator, down steps, back up steps to your room.
BUT...the wonderful Czech service, the clean (and certainly Soviet style room with upgraded modern EU bathrooms) rooms, and beautiful and stunning views of the snow covered Giant Mountains did much to erase the bad impression.
The lounge was great (drinking your hot cider and enjoy the views) and the eager young Czech staff was wonderful (fresh faced and smiling all!). Clutzy Soviet Design- Yes. Warm Czech service...
