At under £40.00 per couple per night this hotel was outstanding value for money. Our stay was from 3rd to 17th March and we had a hire car for the duration of the holiday. We have stayed in the Porta Nova on two previous occasions and based our return on those experiences. Our accomodation in room 312 was good with... more

The hotel is set back a little above the town in a quiet location, yet only a few minutes' walk from the centre. The south-facing rooms overlook the pool and the town, out towards the salt-flats and the sea. Higher floors have the best views. The north-facing rooms (odd numbers, I think) overlook the road and may get some traffic... more

The hotel is well sited up a bit of a hill on the edge of the historic area. It´s a big modern hotel - half the rooms look out over the rooftops of Tavira. The rooms are reasonably sized, though the beds are small. Balconies. There is heating, ventilation (clothes can dry overnight). There is a big breakfast buffet. There... more

Just returned from a 7 night stay - we couldn't wait to get back to the UK. The hotel is not as advertised, it is noisy, the gym was not working (being rebuilt currently and this adds to the day noise), housekeeping would not change the sheets until we complained and insisted (five days in). Staff are friendly, but very... more

We have just returned from a 10 day holiday in Tavira, Portugal. The hotel was classed as a 4* hotel, however i dont think it really matched up to 4*'s. It was a nice hotel, good location to Tavira. But was pleased we got a good deal on it, wouldnt have been happy to pay the full price for what... more

Me and my boyfriend stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in April 2008. Upon arrival reception staff were incredibly polite and helpful and throughout our stay they really helped us with any questions about the area and gave great tips on places to eat etc. The main lobby area is very nice and the hotel from the outside looks... more

Is supposed to be 4* but is really 3* Restaurant is dark and sweaty with poor food choice and just OK quality. We had booked b & b but only had breakfast once. We went down for dinner once but left before eating. Reception is huge behind the desk and cramped for guests. Balcony had several birds nests on it... more

This is the first holiday my hubby and i have taken without our children (who are now too cool to be seen with us!). The location of the hotel is great, very central and you havent to walk far to reach the small square with the wonderful little corner Cafe to chat with the locals who are extremely friendly. It... more

Just returned from a short stay at the porta nova, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the rooms are small but very clean. Breakfast buffet is great to set you up for the day but the pool snacks are very expensive and of a very poor quality, the poolside drinks are a rip off too. The panoramic bar... more
