We stayed at Garthowen and could literally walk out our door to the beach. The marina is just across the street and the sun sets across the hills behind making it quite a sight. My wife and I enjoyed a glass of wine with Sharon and Ian, the hosts, as the sun set. We really enjoyed our stay here! more

What a lovely spot Akaroa is. We stayed with Sharon and Ian for 2 nights in their beautiful home and were lucky enough to get a room with a sea view. You really have to stay at this place. The friednly reception, the fantasticically comfortable and well appointed rooms, the beachside location, the magnificant breakfasts, and the attention to detail have to be experienced to be believed. Wonderful spot, great views, magnificent hosts. A truly wonderful place to relax after the many walks available on the Banks Penisula.
