Three friends and I arrived happy but tired after a 5 hour walk, we thought that it was quite funny when we had to climb the fence as the gate wouldn't open, turned out to be locked at the base. Littile did we know that this was the beginning of a very unpleasant experience. We were greated by a very... more

We were wary after reading mixed reviews, but a friend from NZ insisted we go. Turned out to be a lovely 2 day stay. We had a bungalow at the waterfront with a picturesque view of the bay. The interior was simple, but modern, clean, and cozy. We liked the high wood ceilings in the bedroom and the large windows... more

This review forms part of 3 hotel reviews as we went on Queen Charlette 5 Day Walk with The Adventure Company and they have arranged these 3 hotels for us to stay during our walk. So we review: - Furneaux Lodge Resort - Punga Cove Resort - Portage Resort Hotel In this review, we reviewed the Furneaux Lodge Resort. We... more

We stayed at Furneaux Lodge after our first day on the Queen Charlotte Track and it was wonderful. We had a lovely brand new cabin right on the waterfront which was impeccably clean and beautifully decorated. The real standout for us was the staff who were warm, friendly and helpful, and made an extra effort at every turn (including turning... more

Our cabin had a double bedroom, a twin room, small kitchen, nice new bathroom and large lounge, as well as decking outside. The location was fantastic and we had heard a lot about this place. Sadly, the cabin was freezing cold because of a single, old heater and very old electrics which kept blowing the fuse if too many things... more

Please note: I can only comment on the Possum's Next backpacker part of Furneaux Lodge. This was our first night on the Queen Charlotte Track. We knew the accommodation would be basic, but we didn't expect it to be SO basic. Our room was tiny and not dirty, but quite rough. It had a double bed with linen, a kettle,... more

We stayed at Furneaux for one night on our tramp along the Queen Charlotte Track. We booked a waterfront 'lodge' and were a little disappointed that it wasn't actually on the waterfront...but it was only around 100m away! The room was massive, clean and comfortable as was the lounge and bathroom areas. We booked a dinner, b&b rate and the... more

One night was certainly enough. It was the most expensive part and most disappointing part of our 3 week Holiday. We booked a chalet, and for over $200 were expecting alot more. The door had trouble closing and the kitchen was old and dirty. There was even an old BandAid in the shower. The lady at the desk was helpful... more

We did a day trip to Furneaux Lodge on a lunch cruise. We order the Fishermen's Platter, thinking that this resort tucked deep within the Marlborough Sounds would surely offer a tasty selection. What we got was half a plate of wedges, and a mixed selection of fish bites, crumbed prans, samosas, spring rolls .... AND CHICKEN NIBBLES ... all... more
