We spent 3 days here and it was so quiet and peaceful...the birds having a little fight and cows going to be milked were the only disturbances. The motel was excellent with good facilities for self-catering, relaxing and catching up with the laundry, the backpacker unit looked very smart. The facilities are new, there is even a swimming pool. The owners were helpful and it was excellent value at $85 nz a night. The start of the Queen Charlotte track was only a short drive away (5 mins) and you can easily get water taxis from there if you want to walk parts of the track further away. The shops are quite a way...but that was part of the attraction. more
