Having been so put off by the Marlin Motel (see my separate review), right by the back entrance we found Bridgend Cottage. This is at the rear of a private house where the owners live. Its only just off the green the main road circles as it comes into Picton, and convenient for the Crow Tavern across the green, and only a few minutes walk into the town centre.

There were 2 double bedrooms, a basic bathroom - no shampoo , a kitchen - no drying up cloths, It had obviously not been let out for some time, as there was quite a lot of dust around - perhaps its cleaner in high season. As usual in NZ, it was difficult to get more than a couple of stations on the TV. Nice gardens outside and very quiet.

We thought it expensive @ NZ $150 per night but it would have slept 4., and we were desperate to get a place having failed at 4 motels in Picton beforehand.

The owners were very friendly and helpful, especially when I had to call out a local garage to get us back... more
