We stumbled across punga lodge via the iSite service. it was all very last minute and so I hadn't read the reviews before staying. We really enjoyed our stay - the owners were extremely friendly and helpful. Punga Lodge is a great place to stay.We stayed in a garden ensuite surrounded with greenery.We loved the lush green surrounding us especially when the sun was out.The location is great as well,you can walk down 5mins to a beautiful beach best for picnics/family/barbeque etc.It was a romantic two nights for us at Punga and we didnt move around much... more

Came for a wedding (short stay)> Had read other reviews and was a bit nervous. Found the friendly service great. Home-made cakes/muffins superb! Room was comfortable, and yes, we were visited by the cat ! Room was clean. Rained hard the first day, which made it a bit tough, as the TV reception was poor. Punga Lodge looked great from the outside - little rooms right in the "bush". We had a room below - deep in the "bush" - room smelled of mold & mildew. Behind the curtain was full of mildew. There was carpeting which I'm sure was full of mold/mildew/dust mites/allergens. The managers moved us to another of their properties, Tawa Lodge.... more
