Liz and Gene are generous and gracious hosts. The experience they provide at their beautifully appointed and well-thought out Lodge is a showcase displaying the very best New Zealand has to offer. The rooms are well-appointed with stunning views, the food and wine and the presentation of these are exquisite, and the service they provide is unobtrusive and sensitive to... more

A visit to Waiheke without a stay at Te Whau Lodge is missing the essence of what Waiheke has to offer. Our stay at Te Whau set the tone for our 2 week road trip through the North and South Islands of New Zealand. Gene and Liz were, and continue to be, by far the most gracious hosts that we... more

We have been to a number of 5 star Boutique hotels throughout NZ over the years and we keep returning to Te Whau lodge on Waiheke island because we can't seem to find anyone else who does it better. Te Whau lodge is quite simply an idyllic spot with amazing views over the island and its vineyards, with the mainland... more

After using trip advisor for our trips for the last few years I though I should write a review for this Lodge since it is one of the best places to stay we know of! This was our third visit to Te Whau Lodge and will definitely not be the last!! We were reccomended the lodge when organising our first... more

We recently spent three nights at Te Whau and it was a highlight of our trip to Australia and New Zealand. Gene and Liz are fantastic hosts and Gene's cooking is excellent. Great sunsets looking back at Auckland. Highly recommended! more

Quite simply, this little lodge tucked into a hillside on the charming Waiheke Island, is world class. Our hosts, Gene and Liz, were friendly, engaging, and absolutely accomodating to everything. The rooms are perfect, very comfortable, very modern, very well designed, very well appointed, and all with stunning views of the valley and water below. As much as the lodge... more

A great place to stay with a warm welcome and wonderful views. Exquisite breakfasts with fabulous dinners on request, but you should probably save some room for lunch or dinner at the renowned Te Whau Winery Restaurant a 15 minute walk down the road, where even the bar snacks are incredible. Gene and Liz make you very welcome in their... more

We stayed at the "lodge" for two very short nights. The owners, who also cook you breakfast and dinner (for an additional charge) are amazing. Lodging on this Island and at this lodge is like taking a step back in time, maybe how Maui was in the 50's, but with all updated amenities and conveniences. The lodge is approximately 5-6... more

This place was BY FAR the highlight our trip!!!! I don't even know where to start...The setting is beautiful, on top of a hill, overlooking a small bay. All rooms have king sized bed facing the ocean, with private balcony....beautifully decorated...but the "star" of this place is the food....we had hors-d'oeuvres...amazing...paired with local chardonnay and then moved on to dinner... more
