Our arrival was pleasant enough, but we were given a room with a queen and had reserved a king. Also the shower was being worked on. So we called the front desk and were told we would be moved no problem. We waited a VERY LONG TIME for someone to escort us to another room, the room we actually booked.... more

A youngish man fairly bursting with a sense of his own importance and identified by other staff as the concierge, sitting at a desk with a sign saying "Whenever, Whatever" (the sign itself somehow a laconic insult to guests), was deeply insulted to be consulted about luggage arrangements and did his best to send us away feeling that we had... more

The room has a lot of character--European modern chic. Modern bathroom, modern fixtures, cool, comfy bed, neat lights. Also European size--small. I only stayed 1 night, so I didn't mind but the size could get old if I stayed more than a couple of days. The room was quiet-with no view to speak of but pleasant (Room 624). Service was... more

Next to the Williard, steps to the White House and the Smithsonian. If you walk around 2-3 blocks you will find a few places to eat, Corner Bakery, Cozi, Starbucks, up to 4 star dining. Great to walk all the monuments and get back to your comfy room. We where upgraded to a suite with dining table, living room, bedroom... more

The Hotel Washington needed a face lift. The W Washington is definitely five steps-up from what the Hotel Washington used to look like. However, it's a major scene. If that's your thing, then great. However, if you're looking for a relaxing hotel, this isn't the place... especially on Saturday nights when the line to get into the rooftop is LONG.... more

Overall I had a good stay at the W DC. We took the train in and it was a pretty easy trip on the Red subway line over to the hotel (4 block walk from the Union Center Stop). The Acura service will not take you to and from the train station for some reason, but the subway was fairly... more

Stayed one night for business in October. May be next to the Willard, but feels a world apart. Modern design with colonial notes (mock-candle stick lights, wigged shadow decorations), thumping music, and a roped elevator to the rooftop bar. There was a very well-dressed crowd who seemed to be loving it at least. Still, it is an excellent location for... more

The positives: (1) a great location; (2) POV and the bar/lobby lounge are great places for a light meal and/or cocktail, and; (3) the service was excellent from every staff member that I encountered. The negative: simply way too small of a room at way too great of a price. A "Fabulous" room is only 280-318 sq. ft - compare... more
