a very clean hostel. actually a house with a couple of floors ... wasnt extravagent but it was clean and the staff were very friendly. well placed across the road from the 711 but the sequrity isnt very tight ... front and back doors open all day no locks on rooms.... nothing of mine was stolen though more

At under $25 a night, in D.C. (well close at least), I can't really complain too much, but I was somewhat uncomfortable at this hostel. My first problem was, there was NO security. They advertise lockers, but they were all full (supposedly in use by people no longer even staying there) durring my stay and there were no alternatives offered... more

This place is affordable and in a good location - subway station across the road and takes about 10 mins to get to downtown Washington and to all the sights. Has a very homely feel. Staff were friendly, building was a little run down but not too bad. There is a great coffee shop nearby which does a mean breakfast... more

Stayed in the Hilltop for 5 nights in October 2008. We got the private room on the last floor, which was close to the bathroom. The Hilltop Hostel is an old wood building with thin wood walls, so our room was extremely noisy. Everytime someone used the bathroom we heard it all in our room and sometimes it was difficult... more
