As America’s center of Irish Hospitality, the Phoenix Park Hotel combines warm Celtic charm with an unmatched Capitol Hill location. The historic Phoenix Park, a premier option for downtown Washington DC hotels near Union Station, reflects the aura and elegance of an 18th century country estate. European in ambience yet modern in amenities, the intimate lobby sets the tone for... more

We travelled across the USA on a tour organised by Great Rail Journeys of York between the 7th and 27th October 2009. We spent two nights at the Phoenix Park Hotel, an Irish themed hotel. This is situated 10 minutes from Capitol Hill and 5 minutes from Union Station. Our room was beautifully decorated with matching wallpaper and curtains and... more

I appreciate the time you took to review the Phoenix Park Hotel. It is nice to hear you had an enjoyable stay while on your tour with Great Rail Journeys. The instruction on tipping etiquette was added due to experiences we have had with European travelers, who often times have a different etiquette or unsure about the proper etiquette in...

I've passed by this hotel many times, recently stayed there for a night. The location is convenient to Union Station and the US Capitol. Staff were warm and friendly, and my room was comfortable, with (and this is pretty rare these days) lots of working incandescent lights! Most hotel rooms these days are poorly lit, with compact fluorescent bulbs, so... more

I lived in Washington DC for 10 years. As a former employee of NBC News, I would visit the downstairs restaurant, the Dubliner, a couple of times a week with fellow producers after taping our show. Therefore, as I was very familiar with the Dubliner, I knew the Phoenix Park well and trusted that it would be a nice place... more

Well positioned opposite the railway station and with a view of the Capitol. Small reception area leading into the Irish pub with outdoor sitting area. Good size rooms with slightly overbearing decoration. Breakfasted and a light lunch - both acceptable rather than outstanding. Walking distance to most of the attractions. more

I was pleased with this hotel. Location and cleanliness were very important to me and the Phoenix Park met my expectations. From reading previous reviews, I had some concerns regarding noise from the restaurant/bar and ensuring double beds in our room. I contacted the hotel prior to my visit and had no problem with getting double beds. When checking in,... more

Great location. Room was very small and cramped. Big bed, very high but hugely comfortable. Shampoo provided, but no conditioner. Desk was combined with dresser, which made it very high. No regular desk chair --- the chair provided was large and low, so using the computer was a little awkward. Very little space between the bed and the "desk," so... more

I appreciate the time you took to review the Phoenix Park Hotel. I am sorry to hear that you did not have conditioner in your room and will let housekeeping know this so that we can correct the issue. The Phoenix Park Hotel is a historic hotel and, therefore, does have some smaller rooms. On your next trip to the...

Drove to DC for a class reunion and picked the Phoenix Park for its location and because of Trip Advisor reviews. We were pleased with just about everything, including its connection (literally) to The Dubliner, a great Irish pub. The room, though on the small side, was spotless and well-appointed and service was very friendly. We travel a lot and... more

We stayed here on our first trip to Washington. It is just across the street from Union Station where you can catch the Metro and tour buses. The room is small, but we only spent the evenings in it. The beds are great!! I would definately recommend staying here. more

Myself and my partner stayed here for 2 nights in September. We arrived and were assigned a queen room on the seventh floor. We got to the room and we were pleasently surprised. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I liked the fact the bed was high and was great for lying in to watch the flat screen TV. The... more
