The Ven was absolutely perfect for our romantic weekend getaway. The rooms are beautifully decorated, and the location is very convenient to great restaurants, a modern art museum, and the Metro. The service is absolutely top-notch, and I want to recognize Eli and Halimah for extra care we received. Two days before our stay, a conflict arose where I had a video call for work late in the afternoon of the day we were planning to drive to DC, check into the Ven, and see the National Symphony. The easiest solution was to head up a night early so I could work from the hotel room, but we'd reserved a king room and none were available for the extra night. I called the hotel for advice and spoke to Halimah, who was able to reserve me a nicer room than what was showing online and to reassure me that because the hotel was not sold out for our now-second night, I could stay in the first room through the late afternoon and we could still have the king bed for the weekend. On the evening we left to drive up, I called ahead and Eli advised me that a king room was now available for our first night. He switched our reservation so we could stay in the same room for our whole stay. Eli was working the desk when we arrived and he greeted us so warmly. Throughout the weekend I saw him adding lots of impressively thoughtful touches, like coming out from behind the desk to push the elevator button for us when we just missed the first one while turning to look around the lobby. A woman handed her credit card across the desk to him, and instead of saying "you can tap it on the screen," he smoothly stepped around the desk to tap it for her while maintaining a friendly conversation. We truly felt like we got much more than our money's worth at this hotel. I especially thank Halimah and Eli for their excellent service that put me at ease when my work conflict threatened to affect our long-planned romantic weekend. We're looking forward to staying here again.

Spent two nights here and grateful to have had two nights of great sleep in a quiet setting. Overall though, this hotel's older bones and past lives come through. Everything is a little bit old, a bit worn, and the room and bathroom layouts are from the 1970s/1980s. Adaptor plugs everywhere vs. nicer power strips for laptops, phones, etc...Hotel is neither good nor bad. Just ok. Trying to be hip in some ways. But in the end, it was and still is the Embassy Row Hotel.

I travel quite a bit for my job,and I was so happy that the people working at the Ven truly care about their guests. Everybody, including the porters, the valets, the front desk staff, the restaurant and bar staff, have your comfort and well-being In mind. Fassil Gherbe has been there for many years, during the many changes in the hotel (which I remember), and he continues tl lead his team in customer service. (He went out of his way to help me send a packsge by UPS.) I was very sick one day, and Jin brought food up to my room herself. Mesfin brought me my cold meds. Helen and Cookie gave me tea. Brian and Eli were ready to help in any way I or my State Department guests needed. José, Monica and Jorge remembered me at the restaurant. (Best lamb shank ever!) Robert and Cristian made sure I started my day well with coffee. Mohammed and Kaïs were very helpful with luggage. In addition, Kaïs, who speaks French and Arabic besides English, made our Arabic speaker and French speakers feel at home. I probably forgot to mention someone, but the hotel has terrific staff, which more than makes up for its step-by-step renovations, which I know are on-going. Once all rooms (which are clean, but a bit outdated), are done, this hotel will be a jewel! It already is, with its staff.

When we first checked in to the room they assigned, the bed had not been made, lights were on, etc and the room was clearly not ready. We had to go back down to the desk and get a different room. However, the bigger isssue is that they never returned the $142 security deposit we paid upon check-in, when of course there was not damange or extra charges to the room. I followed up several times by phone and left voicemails for billing department, front desk, etc and it has been impossible to resolve and get our deposit back (1 month later). This is is FRAUD - do not stay here.

We were in Washington for business in mid-December and decided to stay at The Ven. It is a very nice hotel with a bit of a vibe going on. The staff at check in made us feel welcome immediately, and we had a very nice room with a view of a nice quiet neighborhood that was decorated for Christmas. It is a perfect location a block from Dupont Circle with the convenience of being close, and the benefit of being away from the noise. The breakfast at the hotel was good, but the star of this place is the bar. The mixologist (who is light years above a typical bartender) is simply amazing! He is an artist who takes pride in his craft and after describing the types of drinks we liked, he put together variations that pleased both the palate and our eyes. His name is Jorge and he is a very humble man and his talent at crafting drinks that are not only works of art, but will create an outstanding melody of flavors in your mouth. We have other places where we have nightcaps after dinner in Washington, but we came back here every night we were there. We highly recommend staying at The Ven on Embassy Row, and do not pass the opportunity to visit the bar and experience the skill and passion of Jorge.

It’s a good hotel but not great. Staff is friendly and the location is excellent for a weekend stay in DC. But the room was lacking in a lot of things. Every fixture was loose in the bathroom, scratches on furniture/shelving, the shower was stuck in “shower mode” and the light in the main room on the desk didn’t work (the room is pretty dark without it). We addressed the light with the front desk on the first day and it was never resolved, so we knew not to ask about fixing the shower. The mattress was springy and uncomfortable and the front doors slam loudly. It shook our room (and woke us) every time our neighbors came back in at night. Housekeeping was excellent. Also of note, there is a large set of stairs upon entering the hotel (like the minute you walk through the doors). And the elevator was out of order. And the doorman never offered to help us with our luggage entering or leaving. Just a heads up for those traveling with stair mobility issues.

Thank you so much for reviewing us, even though your review is not much fun to read! I'm glad our team was nice and friendly, but that was clearly not enough to make up for things lacking in your guest room. I believe I have located the room based on your user name, but if you would not mind sending me the name that was on your reservation, I would love to be certain so that we can ensure we address all that you mentioned. I am really terribly sorry that your stay didn't measure up and if I can assist in the future or invite you back for another, better, visit, please don't hesitate to contact me directly at jgoodman@thevenembassyrow.com. Please reach out and thanks again. All my best, Jennifer

Your service in the bar restaurant is excellent. The menu is good and the host / kitchen allowing flexibility. I ordered egg whites for my omelette. The service was friendly and efficient. Robert the barista did great job serving my wife and I. Chris was excellent we didn’t even know they were short staffed until we started talking.
