Good place to schedule someone you don't like for the night before their big presentation. The staff is unhelpful, seemed poorly trained on how to fix problems and how to deal with guests about problems. Based on my experience, you can expect guaranteed problems with the room (plumbing, TV), barely working elevators, thin walls and the service responses will be... more

The Hilton Washington is in the process of a huge renovation, and that means that jackhammers interrupted meetings (hard to hear speakers at the conference we were at). Some hallways and elevators are blocked by some of the construction work. This will go on for a long time. The newly redone rooms are reasonably attractive, but small. But what was... more

Firstly, let's get the matter of the renovation out of the way. Yes it is certainly going on but it is not so intrusive as to spoil the stay. Work starts outside about 0700hrs and inside at 0900hrs, at least it means you are up and out sightseeing nice and early which is necessary as there is so much to see... more

I stayed at the Hilton for three nights in early October – around Columbus Day – and was generally satisfied with it. Yes, the renovations were ongoing – workers contracted to the building company even caused a racket by protesting over wages outside the hotel on a daily basis - and the gym/pool were out of action, but there wasn’t... more

Overall bad hotel stay and worse in my frequent Hilton visits. The hotel is undergoing major renovations and they were clear about this from the booking process to the checkin which is good. Didn't experience any noise from construction but the executive lounge pool and gym were all closed. Check-in person was nice but had to ask for my Gold... more

Paying nearly nothing on Hotwire we got an old room the first night. It's clear why they're upgrading; it was pretty ragged. We asked for a new room and got a pretty one the next night with a great view of the Washington Monument. However, there was an unpleasant plumbing issue involving the toilet and the shower. We were helped... more

We had a great time staying at the Hilton Washington except for a few little annoyances. The staff was very pleasant and helpful up to a point. If it wasn't located inside the hotel, they had no idea where it was. It was as if no one who worked there had any idea that there was a drug store a... more

Stayed here on the last 2 nights on a 3 centre holiday by Amtrak. Saw the reviews back in UK and contacted Virgin to ask if there was a problem - didn't fancy flying and paying all that money for a 2nd rate stay at a hotel. I was told that the Trip Advisor reviews were wrong and that everything... more

The hotel is located at a reasonable distance from the Mall, it takes you about 10 minutes to get to the subway and about 15 minutes with the subway to the Mall. However, the hotel is renovating big time, which is a big drawback. Also parking is quite expensive. more
