I have had the privilege of traveling to many parts of the world, and staying in some of the world’s best hotels, but I have never seen a place as beautiful or magical as Ektun. The owner, Phyllis, has created a paradise on earth that I thought only existed in my imagination. First, the grounds of the property are stunningly... more

Ek Tun is a remote lodge (not resort by any means) at the end of 6 miles of rough dirt/rock road and across a river. It is an absolute piece of paradise once you are there. Phyllis is a wonderful character, knowledgeable of the area having lived there for many years, an extremely good and creative cook and very caring... more

In July of 2008 my husband and I booked a trip to Ek Tun for our 1 year anniversary in November 2008. We were so excited by the rugged beauty of Ek Tun and the surrounding tourist attractions and we couldn’t wait to get there. One week prior to our arrival in Belize, Phyllis contacted us with some upsetting news.... more

I’d like to say that my wife and I had a wonderful time at EkTun on our 25th anniversary trip to Belize but we where never picked up by Phyllis the owner on the designated date and time, 12 noon in the town of SanIgnacio in front of Eva’s restaurant. By the way, the bar across from Eva’s, Fire Water... more

This guest misrepresented the situation significantly, and while he does not deserve it according to Ek Tun's published refund policy, he was offered a voucher for the entire amount he paid, good for one year, which he could sell or give to someone else if he chose not to use it himself. I would also like to make the following...

The lodge is located in a beautifull and select enviroment into the jungle with a beautifull natural blue pool with runing water straight from the rocks and mountain. It has two lodges with two rooms each far apart one from the other for privacy ,surrounded by nature, streams of water, noises of frogs all sorts of insects and a wonderfull... more

My partner and I stayed at Ek’ Tun for four nights in late March/April. I loved my stay and would highly recommend it for travelers looking for a low-key, off-the-beaten-track experience—and a romantic one at that. As some reviewers have already stated, Ek’ Tun is not for everyone. It doesn’t have the amenities that large “jungle lodges” in the district... more

Ek Tun stands out as one of the most memorable places I have ever stayed. The two cottages are very well spaced so you have a complete sense of privacy. Phyllis is a truly great host, you couldn't ask for better. Highly recommended. more

Athough it is very beautiful there, there is no electricity what so ever. You may find this as a good thing, once you are there you will not. It's not just getting away from TV and computer. It means no light, no reading, no cold drinks, no food if your hungry between your two meals. At 5PM it is pitch... more

It is true Ek Tun is not for everyone but I believe most of us would benefit from a stay here. You may need to be a little flexible just because not everything in the jungle can happen just as you planned but that is part of the charm. There is no rush just a sense of peace. It is... more

My husband and I stayed at Ek' Tun for the last four days of our honeymoon in Belize. It was everything we hoped for and more! Driving to Ek' Tun from San Ignacio, we followed the directions to the lodge driving through citrus groves, cattle farms, and teak plantations to a spot by the river (near a few waterfalls) where... more
