Basic and affordable lodging, a nice restaurant, a pretty little river with a tiny waterfall out back, and resident toucans and parrots made this one of my wife & my favorite stays. The basic comforts are a great value for the price. The hostess was very friendly, chatted with us during our meals, arranged our day trip to the local... more

The most important thing when choosing accommodations is to have appropriate expectations. We loved staying at Clarissa Falls – but we knew what to expect. The bottom line is that this is a rustic riverside lodge on a family-owned cattle ranch in the middle of a rainforest, providing guests with a nature experience in a way that one usually can... more

Clarissa Falls is located along the Mopan River and tubing down the river can be arranged after hiking up to the Xunantunich ruins. Furthermore, for a mere $65/person, they will arrange an English language tour of Tikal which includes transportation, lunch, entry and guide. You must pay the $18.75 exit fee. I highly recommend the tubing down to the resort... more

We really enjoyed our stay at Clarissa Falls resort. It is a friendly family owned resort, and our host Chena was the sweetest woman you could ever meet. She made you feel like you were an old friend and part of the family. She even offered to lend me her boots and socks for a caving expedition when I didn't... more

My husband and I just got back from an 8 night stay in Belize. Unfortunately, only our first night was spent at Clarissa Falls. It was the perfect first impression of Belize, though! The 1200 acre ranch is beautiful. You have the freedom to go wherever you want on the property. We were the only guests staying at the ranch... more

My wife and I stayed at Clarissa Falls in December of 2005. We initally chose Clarissa Falls due to its closeness to the ruins at Xunantunich and Tikal. We were very happy with our stay. Xunantunich is a short hike from Clarissa Falls and must see. Our host, Mark, could not have been nicer. On day two he arranged our... more

Just returned from a trip to Belize with four wonderful days spent at Clarissa Falls. Wish it could have been longer. Cabins are simple but clean and comfortable. Even during the heat wave they were having, the cool night breezes and two fans kept things cool at night. And no mosquitoes! But the real highlight were the proprietors, Chena, Mark,... more

Clarissa Falls does have rather rustic accommodations, but we can handle a few bugs - after all, they are a part of the jungle and geckos are cute creatures that eat a lot of bugs and are good to have around. The setting along the river is beautiful. We had no complaints that the menu was limited - the food... more

I found the surroundings beautiful, the ranch is well kept. The cabins needed the thatch roof replaced years ago, we had huge roaches and I mean huge, spiders and not sure what some of the other insects were along with geikos. We could not leave our window open at night as the management said there were "peeping toms". We were... more

Although not a 5 star resort, this was one of our favorite places we have ever visited. Staying at Clarissa Falls is like being taken in by a native Belizean family. Chena, Mark and Linda were all very gracious and welcoming. We could never have imagined a better experience. The resort is located right on the Mopan river and the... more
