We had two terrible nights in this dump - we tried getting a room in another hotel, but there was nothing available. Room looked like a prison cell in some third world country! Stayed here in different rooms on 2 different visits. Each was clean and had hot water. There isn't a lot of water pressure so for the tankless heaters you might have to constantly switch between hot and cold (to get warm water) but it works.

The Venus Hotel is at the center of San Ignacio, a small town west of Belize City. I stayed in a room on the main floor towards the back of the hotel where there was a little breeze. We were supposed to be booked into the Midas resort. San Ignacio is an evolving and improving destination. To be honest you don't have that many options of where to stay. I have had the pleasure of staying at the Venus twice for 5 week periods. The staff is extremely nice and very accommodating. I wouldn't advice a room on the 2nd floor in the hallway.. The location was good, right in downtown. Unfortunately, my room which was beside the front desk, was infested with one and half inch cockroaches. We stayed here May 2011 for 4 nights and no issues. Reading the other reviews I am thankful they initially gave us a good room, 2nd floor looking out the back of the hotel.
