We selected the Tradewinds due to recommendations from our travel books. The bungalows were right on the beach, and the rooms were a bit rustic but decent. We paid $65 per night (which turned out to be high for this type of room). When we took the room, we let the staff know that 2 of the screens were torn.... more

I booked Tradewinds after a friend (who hadn't stayed there or seen inside the cabanas) said it had the best location in Placencia. She was right- it's quiet as it's at the end of the beach, but still only a few minutes to get to the shops and bars. Initially we'd been allocated a large 'deluxe' cabana but it had... more

Tradewinds is right on the tip of Placencia. Two things we really like about this hotel are a) you can walk to anywhere in town (all of the larger resorts in Placencia are a bike or cab ride away), and b) the ocean breezes blow right through the cabins so no need for A/C. The rooms are clean, not amazing... more

This place is a gem. Just off the end of the walking path, so it is quiet but not too out of the way. Restaurants, smoothies and beer are close by, plentiful and good. The cabanas have either a full kitchen or kitchenette, depending on the size. The ones with kitchens are just off the beach and the kitchenettes are... more

After spending a few minutes in the room we realized that this wasn't the place for us. The place was not exactly as we had expected. The location was okay but the room was not. The fridge was rusted and painted over with black paint and the overall condition of the room was extremely poor (this is making a generous... more

bet trip ever! Me and the lady were looking for a week on the beach with no 'resort', no all-inclusive, no tourists, etc. This was a nice little cabin but not luxurious. When we wanted to eat we would wander into town (2-min) and eat the local cuisine (awesome and cheap). During the day we scuba dived and did jungle... more

We only stayed at this hotel a few hours before deciding to move on to somewhere else. We had made reservations in February for two nights in May for our 20th anniversary and had requested one of the beachfront cabins. We were given our choice of two well-worn cabins--neither of which were on the beach. Shortly after we moved in... more

The tradewinds has a great location on the south end of Placencia. The cabanas themselves are adorable and right on the beach. The view was gorgeous and the management was friendly. We were a little less than impressed with the interior of the cabana. It was clean and basic, but a little stuffy. We didn't quite feel comfortable there. We... more

The Tradewinds hotel is 6 isolated cabanas at the southern-most end of Placencia. If you want to stay in the village (which we highly recommend) this is one of the best locations. Tradewinds has the biggest beach and is in a great location for walking to the rest of the village. Our cabana had two queen beds, a nice patio... more

Obviously, location is what the Tradewinds has going for it. We were in the Mermaid cabana, about 20 ft from the ocean (if that). The location is remote by Placencia Village standards, but is an easy stroll into town (you could easily walk to the other end of town in 10 minutes). The view is spectacular, really feels like paradise.... more
