Our recent visit to Chichicastenango, Guatemala, was made even more memorable by our overnight stay at the Mayan Inn. Sure, the name seems a little corny, but our room was amazing! The antique furniture is beautifully ornate (see pics) and the door does indeed have a secure keyed lock, although this may represent a recent upgrade. While the daytime sun... more

My husband and I were spending our honeymoon travelling around Guatemala. For visiting Chichi, I personally called the hotel, explaining the situation and asking for a romantic room. They told me that we would have one of the best. To my surprise, the moment we arrived the room was very small, dirty, uncorfortable (was really cold and even if we... more

The Mayan Inn is a charming, simple and unique place to stay when visiting Chichicastanango. The room had 2 twin beds, a desk, and small table with 2 chairs so you can lounge next to the fireplace. There is soap, shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom. No hairdryer, but it wasn't an issue since we only stayed one night. I... more

We wanted to stay at the Santo Tomas but delayed reservations too long and stayed instead at the Mayan Inn. Two rooms Saturday night, one for our two teenage boys, one for us. Somehow they got the nicer corner room. Both rooms were nice, nice bedspreads, fireplace. The hotel has a great location for market visitors, almost in the middle... more

We stayed at this place for a couple of nights during our honeymoon. Although a bit overpriced, we liked it for its rustic ambiance and the proximity to the market. The colonial houses are gorgeous, the courtyards are very nice and the antique furniture in the rooms and in the dining room is a collection of jewels. We loved the... more

in 15 years The Mayan Inn has not dissapointed me. I have stayed there with my family and most recently with a friend who came to Guatemala for the first time from Mexico. Mexico being the big sister, and therefore having wonderful colorful landscapes, I was under pressure to impress! The Mayan Inn with its unique roughed mayan hospitality stepped... more

Great hotel, with great service. The hotel doesn't have locks on the doors which was a little daunting at first but we didn't have any problems. It's in a great location, just out of the centre but only a few minutes walk away. We had an evening meal here too which was also great. more

Our stay at the Mayan Inn was marred by money stolen from my daughter's wallet. There are no locks on the doors but you are .assured your belongings are safe as you are asigned a personal attendant. After checking with him to make sure we could safely leave money in the room, as not to have too much cash on... more

We stayed at The Mayan Inn for a single night (market night) and thoroughly loved it. Spacious, gracious accommodations (we were upgraded to a suite for no extra charge). Yes, there is no TV or telephone or AC or locks on the door, but didn't need them (even with our 10-year-old along). Dinner was very good and quite reasonable, breakfast... more

I don't mean to cut the Santo Tomas, but the Mayan Inn is really the best. There's no disturbance from tour busloads coming and going, and the charm of the distinctively different rooms is disarming. The location is fabulous. There's no noise from the streets, but you walk about 10 yards to get to the market. Walk through the market... more
