Arriving in Chichi the day before the fair, which happens every Sunday, I had no idea how hard it would be finding a place to stay. I knocked at their door first, knowing the price, then I said I was just shopping around. All other places where full, so I went back. The ower, Don Manuel is quite helpful, gave... more

Upon arrival to Hotel Chalet, I realised that I had left my purse (with both of our passports, money...had just topped up the quetzales for shopping at the market, and my credit cards) in the taxi that we had taken from Pana. Manuel (Chalet's owner) telephoned everyone he knew in Pana and my purse, everything intact, was returned. I will... more

My husband, doggy and I stayed here for four days. Not only was the room comfortable and clean, but the owners, Lucia and Manuel were wonderfully accomodating. They went out of their way to make our stay special, and did not hesitate to make phone calls to help me with my research. They now offer free wifi, which is so... more

Our family (five of us) ended up spending two nights at the Hotel Chalet. We arrived the night before the market which happened to be New Years Eve. The Hotel owners, the Tolls, invited us up to the roof top patio to welcome in the new year with fireworks, tamales and some fruits (some we had never seen before). New... more

If you really want the full experience of the Sunday Chichicastenango market, you need to arrive on Saturday and watch the people set up shop late at night right thru to the early morning hours. Spending the night in Chichi also allows you to tour the market area before the hordes of tourist buses arrive late in the morning. One... more

Great little hotel for the money! Very clean, nicely decorated with local weavings and "typica". Rooms are small but useable. Bathroom small but plenty of hot water. "Matrimonial" size bed was queen size. The hotel is a large house so it has more of a "bed & breakfast" type feel and very friendly. The owner Manuel was extremly helpful and... more

We stayed for one night prior to attending the Sunday market festivities. We paid $25.00 including tax for a room with a double bed and private bath. The room was nicely decorated (no TV though) and clean, but small. Too small in fact for two people to be comfortable. The owner was extremely helpful and kind - he lives with... more

The rooms at Hotel Chalet are small but spotless, beds are firm and comfortable, bathrooms tiny but modern, and the hosts are extremely friendly and accomodating, and can also arrange transportation at favorable rates. The location, 2 blocks from the Mayan Inn (which is 4 times the price), is very convenientto the market. There is a pleasant rooftop terrace overlooking... more
