Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Ok, first world complaint here...we paid $275-$300 per night for a king room during an Iowa State football weekend. The room was clean, but furnishings were very, very tired. Office chair was shredded (see pic), lounge chair stained, bedding thin, and carpeting worn. Our breakfast the first morning was decent, but the second morning only cold breakfast was being offered because staff didn't show up. It's possible hot breakfast was served later, but we didn't stay to find out. This hotel definitely is not worth the money.

Hotel's Favourite
We stayed here for Vet Med graduation at ISU and I was very pleased with our room. I have to say that it was one of the cleanest hotel rooms I've ever stayed in. Years ago, I was a hotel maid so my standards are quite high and Maricel (hope I spelled that right), did not disappoint. I have stayed in much fancier, much pricier hotels but this one was cleaner than many fancy, expensive hotels where I've stayed in the past. The lobby was nicely decorated and also quite clean. Staff was very friendly. I really wish I'd gotten the name of the man at the front desk because he was so friendly and helpful. We ordered food from a local restaurant and it arrived without napkins or all the utensils we needed. One call to the desk was all I needed to correct the problem. The man at the desk offered to bring me the items we needed but I told him I'd come down to get them. When I arrived at the desk, he was busy with another guest, but quickly grabbed the items and held them out for me to take, without even taking a break from the other people he was helping. He did it all with a smile on his face too. This is not the fanciest hotel I've stayed in, but to be completely honest, I'd rather stay here than some of the fancy ones, I've stayed in that weren't as clean or didn't have such nice staff. I'll probably choose this hotel again should I need one in Ames in the future. Highly recommend. The bed was comfortable. The only drawback was that the pillows were smaller than regular but once I got used to that (I'm used to a king sized pillow), I slept quite well. One piece of advice too, if you stay in a handicapped accessible room, position the bath mat a little ways back from the shower as there isn't a lip to contain the water and the mat gets wet. This is to make the shower wheelchair accessible, so doesn't detract from the room, but if the mat is too close, it does get wet.

The hotel is in the midst of renovations, which are needed. Our desk chair was shredded, the comforters were extremely lumpy, halls were creaky. We found Simone else’s left over restaurant box in our fridge! Staff were pleasant and breakfast was good. But I doubt we will stay there again or any other Country Inn for that matter.

Family of four payed US$ 164 in advance non-refundable. DIRTY beyond description, had to go to Walmart for desinfectants to clean surfaces, could not use hot-tub and bathtub, visibly dirty and smelly. Breakfast inedible, leftovers from yesterday (see pictures). INDIFFERENT STAFF. Talked to manager, was leaving for new job, not interested. Can’t believe this is part of @rhAmericas #Radisson. DO NOT BOOK. STAY AWAY.

The room was well cleaned and equipped, and the bed was very comfy. We chose a disability access room to be sure we’d have a safe shower. The breakfast room was cheerfully attended. On a long road trip, this was just what we needed.

We always choose this hotel when visiting the Ames area. It’s super friendly, clean, pet friendly, fantastic free breakfast and has the usual room amenities. It’s also right off the highway and close to everything.

It's a tired old hotel name that I won't book again. Room was clean and quiet. The breakfast cook supposedly called in sick so waffles was the only hot option. That being the case, no other hotel employee refilled coffee thermoses, refilled the syrup and batter dispensers, washed tables or emptied the trash. Watched a young lad make himself a waffle and eat it dry. Sad.

Hi there, On behalf of the entire staff at the Country Inn & Suites, I wanted to thank you for your feedback. We are aware of some issues surrounding breakfast that we are working to address, and in addition a complete refresh to the hotel is in progress. I know that this experience was disappointing, but I hope that with our improvements we may be able to provide you with an exceptional experience if you do choose to book with us again in the future.

check in experience was not good as they were experiencing rooms not being cleaned for check in. Breakfast was very slim with limited hot foods other than waffles. no coffee was ever made in the lobby without being asked to have some made.

Very disrespectful!!! Won’t ever stay there again!!! They charged my card when I first checked in and that was a month ago!! This morning I wake up and checked my account! They charged it again!!! I called they said the manager would call me back within the hour. Never got a call back so I called 10 more times before they decided to answer. Just to tell me no manager was available!!!! Still haven’t received my money back even after calling corporate!! And even after sending corporate copies of my bank statements of them charging me twice!!! Now I have to go through a long process to get my 173 back!!! Crazy!!!! Can’t believe it!!! Should’ve never took my family there!!!
