My wife and I stayed at the Balima right after Christmas 07 and found it to be quite enjoyable. The staff was courteous and helpful, the room was clean and the location was perfect. I was apprehensive booking with the Balima after reading several negative reviews, but was pleasently surprised. We would definetly stay at the Balima again. more

The hotel is very old fashioned and our room had clearly only been updated once since it was built in the 1920s. The refit seemed to be in the 1950s but we were happy with our stay. Let me say that they were in the process of remodeling (Aug 2007) when we arrived, but we were very disppointed in the hotel. Perhaps once the hotel is remodeled it will improve, but for now it was certainly not worth the money. We stayed on an unrenovated floor so the rooms were very outdated. We wouldn't even walk into the bathroom without thongs on, the shower recess was pretty awful (pubic hairs included!), the soap holder, strangely outside the shower, had never been cleaned.
