Our first experience of staying at the Sable Mountain Lodge was jumping off a train in the dark (it had stopped fortunately) and climbing on board some sturdy looking 4x4's. We then travelled through the night past Masaii warriors (I still have no idea how they see so well in the dark!) and arrived at Sable Mountain Lodge half an hour later.
We were introduced to the camp by the lovely Mia and had our first (of many) superb meals. Don't worry if you're a bit squeemish about eating "local" food - there is something for everyone and they will be happy to accomodate your eating requirements.
The rooms themselves are varied and have an authentic african feel to them. All the beds are very comfortable and have mosquito nets. A word of warning - the lodge is powered by solar power so if you get back to your lodge late at night be sure to take a head torch as someone else might have used up all the power!
