On a business trip to Harare i stopped in Meikles Hotel. The front office staff we very welcoming and check in was fast. I went to the roof pool bar for a few glasses of wine and to check off some work emails - The service staff were again excellent. I was staying in a club room on the 11th... More

5 Star rates??? Internet hardly works, rooms are old, new wing taking too long to complete, out of stocks on the menu in the restaurant. The buffet is simply a no no. airconditioning centrally controlled and frustrating. In the old days we had a doorman, now we have a security gaurd. I have mentioned these issues before whilst at the... More

This is a convenient hotel in downtown Harare so I end up staying there when traveling to Zimbabwe for work. The service is good although it does feel a bit like its best days are behind it. Some things are pricey for no reason, e.g., the only way to get a bottle of water at night is to order room... More

The hotel is currently undergoing renovation. Despite that, most of the restaurants and bars are good and give you that old world charm if you are looking out for that. one can make out that this place exuded class at a certain point in time - that is the problem - things seem to have got stuck. The staff can... More

What a lovely hotel to stay in, apart from the super friendly staff the hotel just oozes this old world charm which I love. The hotel pick-up from the airport worked flawlessly, and everything, from check-in to check-out to meeting business partners at the hotel bar or having breakfast at the main restaurant, was made so much more pleasant due... Very central, great breakfast on Terrace, fair Business Centre. Bit pricy and one wing currently being renovated. Proud history and listed as a 5 star hotel, but I would rate it as 3/4 stars. Used the pool on the roof, very nice. The main differentiator is location.

Being from South Africa we generally associate modernness with luxury. The Meikles is a lovely old colonial style hotel but needs a lick of paint. It is the best Noel to stay in in Harare though. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the service is excellent. Well located for business but the parking is a bit of a pain.... More

I stayed at the Meikles for one night. I was given a room on the club floor (12th). The room had every amenity, was large and comfortable. The service from the staff was excellent as well. Highly recommended.

Accommodation in Harare is surprisingly quite expensive and there isn't an abundance of choice. The Meikles is generally regarded as one of the better hotels in Harare. Whilst it is in need of a renovation, the staff in general are attentive and helpful. The rooms are generously proportioned, although the hotel is in need of an upgrade. Compared to other... More
